Late in a blowout 61, 61 win over Federico Delbonis in the Buenos Aires quarterfinal, Rafael Nadal showcased some of his skills that makes him the best clay court player in the world.

What retrieving from Rafa!

“The match was positive for me,” said Nadal. “My attitude was very good today. I moved in a positive way again. I would say I played better than the past few months. Maybe the feeling with the ball wasn’t fantastic, but I continued playing, and I started to get the feelings.”

Nadal plays his semifinal later today against Argentine Carlos Berlocq. Juan Monaco and Nicolas Almagro will contest the first semifinal.

The amazing thing was how the crowd serenaded his name after this point singing it, delaying the next point. And Rafael’s opponent was a home player, an Argentine. That was amazing to see: shows the love the crowd has for the guy. The affection and regard for rafa internationally to draw such reactions from a crowd even against a home player is just plain amazing to see. Really only his friend and rival Federer can do the same. Those 2: in a class of their own in this game.
