World No. 1 Novak Djokovic was smelling more than victory yesterday during his semifinal win over Jeremy Chardy. The top seed complained to the chair umpire that he was smelling marijuana on the court.

“It was yesterday, as well,” Djokovic said pointing out that he smelled it Friday. “I’m glad that I wasn’t the only one who was feeling it. Yesterday in the doubles match, today again. Somebody’s really enjoying his life around the tennis court.

“Whoever it was, I think he spent all his ash, and he was probably on the seventh sky somewhere. I felt I was playing better as I was inhaling.”

Djokovic will seek his 25th career Masters 1000 title today against Murray who he has beaten eight straight times.

Djokovic has won 30 straight matches in Masters play.

Giles Says:

He seems familiar with the smell of weed! Hmmmm

kriket Says:

That is in fact dangerous, because if a player inhales a nearby smoke, that theoretically could show later in his blood tests, especially THC which is known to leave it’s traces in blood for months.

So, he could be blamed for doping or something, I wouldn’t take that kind of situation so lightly.
