David Ferrer losing on clay to tall guys not from Europe or South America and who’ve only ever won small tournaments on hardcourts…maybe time for him to start thinking of his life post-tennis? He was a top 10-er for so long, but things started slipping last year, and he’s now outside the top 30. I’ve always admired his fighting spirit!

So Andy isn’t playing today after all, Tomic having withdrawn injured. I wouldn’t think there would have been much chance of an upset, but it would have been a useful bit of match play, which is what Andy hoped for when he when he entered this tournament. Still, it’s good to hear the arm isn’t bothering him.
