It’s another blockbuster day at the Australian Open Thursday with the main attraction seeing Novak Djokovic continue his return against Gael Monfils in the heat of the day on Laver in the afternoon.

Djokovic has won all 14 matches against the Frenchman who is also coming back from injury.

Juan Martin del Potro battles fellow giant Karen Khachanov. The two just met last week in Auckland with the Argentine prevailing.

Under the cooler lights, Roger Federer takes on Jan-Lennard Struff. The German just snapped an 11-match Grand Slam losing streak.

Tomas Berdych, Stan Wawrinka, Richard Gasquet, Dominic Thiem and Sam Querrey are also in action.

In the women’s draw, former champion Maria Sharapova takes on Anastasija Sevastova in a rematch of their US Open encounter won by the Latvian.

We’ll see how well Simona Halep’s left ankle has recovered after a nasty twist in her opener. Halep will take on former Top 10 Eugenie Bouchard.

Angelique Kerber tries to up her recent win streak against Croatian Donna Vekic. Garbine Muguruza, Ash Barty and Madison Keys are all on court on a packed schedule.

Wog Boy Says:

It’s already 29 degrees and it’s not even 10am. This the part I hate, checking out of the hotel, and the only place I can hide where is not hot until Nole starts is shopping center with AC, I hate shopping centers, my better half loves them, hopefully two WTA matches will be quick, not like yesterday in Rafa case so I can duck out of the shopping center as early as possible.
I really have panic attacks in shopping centers, the place I feel most uncomfortable, but I don’t have a choice on such a hot day, too early for the pub:((

RZ Says:

@Wog Boy – it’s probably too early to go to the movies. Maybe coffee/brunch in a cafe and then a visit to the pub? Stay cool and hydrated.

Wog Boy Says:

RZ,
You are mind reader, that’s excatly my plan, I always have plan B..not that always works.

J.S. Says:

WB You leaving after Djok match? Did you watch Rafa’s yesterday? Do they have A/C places at AO to catch your breath?
I love hearing all about the tournaments, including the food, LOL :)

Appreciate the stats on other thread about “sold out” regarless who is playing, I didn’t know this about AO, especially out-doing USO…WOW! Good for AO, they must be doing something right!

Have a blast…and keep the updates coming!

Okiegal Says:

@Wog Boy……I hope you are having a grand time and I know you are happy to have your guy back in the mix! Good luck to him and stay cool!!

Wog Boy Says:

Oki,
Thanks, yes I love it, it’s worth waiting 12 months.

J.S.
There is AC in the hallways around Arenas, but it’s overcrowded, you have to queue for food, drinks even males toilets, pretty hectic, outside doors open, no much use of AC.
Actually I watched only Rafa’s third set in the square, when I got in I realized Dzumhur was playing against Millman on the court that you get in with ground pass, I like him as a character so I had to queue for half an hour to get in, but it was worthwhile, I enjoyed the match thoroughly and his hissy fits, I was that 2% minority that cheered him:))

RZ,,
My plan B worked, I told my wife that if she wants me to have panic attack in the middle of the packed shopping center I’ stay with her…she released me. Will not see her until airport time, I miss her, but…;)
I am in my favorite old fashio British pub called “The Elephant & wheelbarrow” on my first Kilkenny, 15 minutes from RLA, watching Sharapova on TV, nice and cool, couldn’t ask for more:))

AndyMira Says:

WB…It is sooo hot out there..i hope u will wear a hat or get out of that vicious sun when they’re on the breaks…I had to wait only 1/2 hr under the hot sun for my kids to get out from school and i felt wanna passed out from the sheer hotness!

Wog Boy Says:

AM,
Yes, it is hot, but good thing is that humidity is low.
As for Australian sun, it’s by far the worst in the world. Ozone layer above Australia is the thinnest in the world, skin cancer rate is the highest in the world, kids are not allowed to go to school without the hats/caps, if you send your child to school without a hat child has to stay in classroom, cannot go outside to play.
There is nothing good in sun baking, only harm.

Wog Boy Says:

Come on Maria, I don’t want third set.

Wog Boy Says:

Thiem lost first set!

AndyMira Says:

Oh really WB?I pity u guys & player’s..but i’m sorry.. I LOVE AO!…Thank God!So far there’s no retirement yet from player’s because of the hot sun right?

Wog Boy Says:

Good job Maria, one more match to go.

J.S. Says:

WB,
And, Querrey is down 2 sets…..Crazy!

Wog Boy Says:

J.S.

I know Thiem struggles with hot weather, but Querrey is Californian?!

AndyMira Says:

Oh!btw….Hope Monfils will not do ridiculous thing just to score a win against Novak like he did at USO 2 years ago…

Can’t wait for their action!

J.S. Says:

ESPN just said court temperature is 124 degrees…..I don’t think Querrey or Thiem are okay in this heat!

Wog Boy Says:

Nobody is ok, doesn’t matter how fit you are.

AndyMira Says:

And now Thiem’s 2 sets down!!…Unbelievable!!

J.S. Says:

MIRA….I know, I know….CRAZY, right?
He is very red faced wrapped in ice towels on changeovers! I really like Thiem, he is playing someone ranked 190…
Unbelievable is right! UGH

Wog Boy Says:

Thiem two sets down!

J.S. Says:

This might be a stupid question…..

What time did these matches start? And, how will conditions change by night matches?
Does that make sense…..are they truly disadvantaged or is it just a heat wave that effect all the matches?

Please be safe players!! – It looks really miserable!

Wog Boy Says:

All the matches start at 11am, the worst part of the day is between 1pm and 6/7pm, temperature doesn’t start to go down before that time, sunset is well after 8pm.

Wog Boy Says:

Even Muguruza is break down.

AndyMira Says:

Yeah J.S…Now,let’s see who’s can get out safely from this…Kudla or Thiem…Can Kudla maintain his form & mental strength under the great pressure and vicious weather?

Daniel Says:

The days are unpredictable ref weather, some days are just brutallike today. Remember a final between Hingis and Capriati where Hingis was about to faint. Capriati won on sheer will that day.

AndyMira Says:

Really wise tennis from Kudla who aimed at Thiem’s FH who’s really unreliable today..he got many free points on that side alone..

J.S. Says:

That was a “must win” 21 minute game for cutie pie Thiem! He is down 2 sets…..Hats off to Kudla!
Sending Thiem some electrolyte’s :)

Wog Boy Says:

I’ll send him some Kilkenny, that’s not considered PED, no?

J.S. Says:

Good news….Berdych is up 5-3 in first set! The only person I have RIGHT in my bracket, so that’s good news for me wooohooo!

Djok doesn’t play until Muguruza/Hseih is over and it’s 5-5 (UGH) Looks like Tsonga/Djok will be starting late!

Querrey is in trouble in the 4th set, down 1-4, might be packing his bags!

Daniel Says:

Thiem closed third set. Querrey down 2-5 in fourth. Looks like Fed’s potential R16 will be a no show.

J.S. Says:

HAHA whatever Kilkenny is, it worked! Thiem wins 4th set…..LOL

WogBoy, they just showed adults in the fountain at AO, would that have been you?

AndyMira Says:

God J.S!…I picked Querry till 4th!!…Urgh!!..Another disaster pick for me!!

AndyMira Says:

Hahahaha!….That’s funny J.S!!

Daniel Says:

Querrey out! Let’s see if Thiem makes a comeback. Even so, don’t give him much chance. Wawa may go deeper than him should they play R16.

J.S. Says:

DANIEL,
Won’t Fed have to face Gasquet before R16, no?

Wog Boy Says:

No J.S. , I am still in the pub, no way I’ll go down until Muguruza finishes.
Kilkenny is Irish beer, very good one.

Daniel Says:

Garcia Lopez 4-0 and serve second set on Berdych, looks like all matches will be long today.

J.S. Says:

haha WB!! Sounds yummy!

Muguruza is now in tie breaker, another late start for Djok today, maybe that gives him a little less heat though!

Daniel Says:

Yeah J.S, Gasquet R3 if they both win today. But R16 there are no Raonic nor Querrey so will be a easy round, Kiker or Fucsovics.

Wog Boy Says:

Not really, heat will peak at around 4pm.

J.S. Says:

UH OH!!! They are saying Berdych is having heat issues and might not be able to finish match…..NO!!!!!!!

J.S. Says:

TY Daniel….I know what you mean now, you’re SO right! Easy for FED now!

Wog Boy Says:

I thought 36 years old half is loaded, no?;)

Wog Boy Says:

Thiem is coming back:))

Van Persie Says:

Muguruza 1 set and break in the second down. Because of the heat?

Pulling a bit for Hsieh now, so that Nole starts sooner

AndyMira Says:

Oh my God J.S!…Everyone are struggling!Mugu 1 set down & 1 game down now!!Hohohoho!….

Btw…I find it funny when people said that Rafa’s draw is easy..and Fed is tough…i mean,Fed got D.Young/Struff/possibly Gasquet who’s known as mental midget/DelPo who’s already played 3 straight weeks when they’re supposed to meet/Nole who’s not 100% fit?

Wog Boy Says:

Same here VP, particularly since I have to leave by 5pm, so I can see at least bit of action.

Van Persie Says:

Perhaps I should hope for a 6-7 hours match Mugu-Hsieh, so that Nole plays in the afternoon….

Van Persie Says:

Just read you WB, so, for your sake: Idemoo Hsieh! lol

Wog Boy Says:

I just realized, I shouldn’t be cheering Thiem, but I can’t help it, I like the bloke.

AndyMira Says:

Sorry!..Not Young but Bedene in his 1st match..

Wog Boy Says:

Don’t worry about me, the later he starts the better, but it won’t happen.

J.S. Says:

I like THIEM but Kubla is playing very well!!

Berdych is still standing vertical….I was worried about him, but I think he will be okay!

Mira…without a doubt Fed has easiest draw, and after today a cakewalk! Plus, he will probably have roof closed w/ A/C and fan blowing on him, LOL

J.S. Says:

It’s OVER!!!! Now time for Djokovic…..RUN RUN WB!!!

Wog Boy Says:

On my way.
BTW, did he ask for the roof to be closed? If he did I bet they will obey;) All what you have to do is to ask,no?

Van Persie Says:

Thiem won the match, Berdych got the 3 set, order restored, for the moment

AndyMira Says:

Where r u sitting today WB?Is it a good seat again where u can see even a pimple on Nole’s face??

J.S. Says:

VAN PERSIE, I agree, all restored! Only upset was Querrey today…but, that helps RF in next round!

Djok down one break – already 2-0 – It’s HOT….folks! Can’t wait to hear thoughts from WB!! :)

Van Persie Says:

3 DF’s for Nole already, a break down…not the best start

Wog Boy Says:

It’s better if you don’t hear my thoughts, he is way off the mark, hot or not.

Van Persie Says:

This is not a good match. Neither of them not in match yet. Should have been a night match, on MC at least…

J.S. Says:

Sloppy games from both players! Maybe the sloppiest 4 games I’ve ever watched from 2 great players!

AndyMira Says:

IMO Novak just needs time..this is the 1st major injury for him…it’s not easy to trust your anatomy when you’re back from injury…plus he’s not play tennis for 6 month…i really believe that he’ll come around…

AndyMira Says:

But really happy to see him as calm as cucumber so far…Nole of old would have screamed already!

J.S. Says:

I hope so….Djok can still pull this off, it’s going to be who can handle the heat…
They are both having trouble! I would never bet against Djok, just saying!

AndyMira Says:

J.S…Monfils r not known for his consistency…while Nole already proved over & over again in the past years that he as tough as our Rafa…My take..Nole in 3 or 4…

Danica Says:

What a bizarre match between Nole and Le Monf. The ESPN commentators said Nole and Agassi actually picked this time slot as opposed to night. Although, Johnny Mc was quick to point out that no one likes to do anything on this heat.

kjb Says:

If Monfils can hold on to the first set, I would raise his chances of winning the match from 4% to about 8%.

Danica Says:

So, 8% it is :)))

J.S. Says:

LOL I remember last year they said the same thing, Rafa requested a day (hot) match. When Rafa was asked why in his presser….HE SAID “I absolutely asked for nothing”!!!
I call BS on MEDIA starting this rumor about Djok so-called request!! Hope they ask Djok in his presser, just like they did last year w/ Rafa.
Fowler/McEnroe probably heard this and repeated it…..I still would say NO WAY Djok could take the night game/court anyway (this has already been discussed)

kjb Says:

Don’t get me wrong, I would love Monfils to hang on, but if he stays 10ft behind the baseline the whole time, Nole is gonna grind him down into mincemeat by the middle of the third.

Wog Boy Says:

Let’s make it clear, I am in the shade and it is really hot, officially air temprerure is 39, but that’s not exuse for Nole to keep missing the sitters, by quite a margin.

kjb Says:

@Wogboy

Are you attending this match?

Wog Boy Says:

Yes, but not for too long, soon I’ll have to leave.

kjb Says:

That is so cool. Enjoy.

Wog Boy Says:

Thanks kjb, but so far I am not enjoying this match:))

AndyMira Says:

Both player’s r struggling in the heat now…i will be very surprised if Monfils can outlast Nole today…

kjb Says:

I don’t know, he hasn’t played in 6 months, he’s hitting the ball so clean, in spurts, I really doubt he is going to lose this match.

Wog Boy Says:

It is a must for Nole to win this set or bye bye.

Anto Says:

Is there some issue with the elbow for djokovic? The second serves in this game was way too slow.

Wog Boy Says:

Monfils is playing possum again.

kjb Says:

They are both hurtin, but Gael looks like hes about to pass out.

Wog Boy Says:

Yes, and then runs like a rabbit.

kjb Says:

Its way too hot out there. Why don’t they close the roof?

Wog Boy Says:

Good point, I thought few years ago they introduced policies to close the roof when it is certain temperature, maybe they are waiting to hit 50 degrees..

Anto Says:

I don’t think monfils is gonna complete the match.

Margot Says:

AM: Darling Angie is getting her mojo back! So good to see. Happy Birthday Angie.
Wog Boy: Just looking at Gael v Nole. Are you there? Jeez the WHO ought to be looking at the AO. Playing tennis out in the open in that heat is both crazy and dangerous.

Wog Boy Says:

I will just tell you the rules that are implemented in construction industry and thi is like construction work.
When temprerure get close to 35 degrees all the work on radiant surfaces is stopped, when it hits 35 degrees all work on open surfaces has to be ceased immediately, when it hits 37 absolutely all work has to stop, inside and outside on construction site, without exemptions, with hige penalties for companies breaching the rule…it is 39 degrees here.
I have to go to catch a plane, have fun prople.

Wog Boy Says:

Margot I was there, on my way to Airport now, running late, Nole Nole what are you doing to me?!?!

Margot Says:

Wob Boy: Have a good journey. Dunno who will win. Last man standing, I guess. Crackers, crazy and just wrong!

Danica Says:

The air temperature is measured 2m above the ground. I can’t even begin to imagine the temperature of the surface. Their feet must be suffering big time. This is ordeal for all the players and frankly, the matches are way below the standard.

AndyMira Says:

M!…Yes ma’am!!..Really happy to see her get her confidence back!….I picked her to win the whole d@#$ thing!…Hehe..Hey!U didn’t join TDC!!…URGH!!..Again!!

Margot Says:

AM: Didn’t think there was one for a slam…oops! Have a bracket in the WTA main draw. Think I am 899th or close….;)

Van Persie Says:

Drove to work and see now, that Nole won 2nd set…needed a break after he lost the 1 set. ok, perhaps he will make it…1 set was horrible…

AndyMira Says:

Oh really M??hehe..Good!..899th from 3,400 is good M!…I didn’t enter the main draw…what about ATP?

AndyMira Says:

I mean from 3 or 4,000 participants..Typo’s!!Heheh..

Danica Says:

DelPo and young Khachanov play a pretty good match. Watching them one would’t tell that it is a searing hot day.

Ozloz Says:

I had a friend that cooled down with water shower and resumed to play in hot weather. S he collapsed and died. Verdict was she fried her brain. Hope monfils gets through this …

rognadfan Says:

Only thing missing from Novak-Gael match is Novak’s occasional drunk and tripping act. Monfils is already giving plenty. Then they would have given their all on the court.
But I guess Novak doesn’t need that today. I should say he doesn’t need against Gael ever.

I just hope now accuses Nole of doping for playing in such brutal heat without any problem. …Oh wait…!

Van orten Says:

I feel no one is surprised that Monfils seems the only one out there really struggling with the heat . Jesus h Christ

Danica Says:

Here is the topic that the players should discuss at their meetings too: moving the start of AO to a later date. Few weeks would probably make a huge difference. And it was spoken of before but nothing came out of it.

Van Persie Says:

Hehe Rognadfa,

Only hope he kakes the same as Fed, then I could have high hopes for this year :)

J.S. Says:

They need to suspend outer court play tomorrow and close the 3 roofs for matches.
BUT….
They can’t do this NOW because Monfils/Djok are struggling!
They should have closed the roof earlier today…..I have a huge problem w/ the others who had to endure the heat today and finished thier matches.

Danica Says:

Ozloz, that’s terrible :((. So sorry. This is probably similar effect to that of people sunbating for ages on a hot day and then jumping in the ocean. Shock to the heart must be enormous.

Margot Says:

I agree Danica. Seems to me the players are too passive generally.
AM: ATP? Lol I was sitting last in tennisxbracket, but am clawing my way upwards….

Van Persie Says:

Players should not accept to play under such conditions…it does not help , if only 1 or 2 of them is tanking or withdraws due to such conditions. They really need to be united.

J.S. Says:

Delpo is playing in exact same conditions… 6-4, 7-6 and 4/4 in 3rd.

Maybe they will reconsider matches for tomorrow?

AndyMira Says:

M!…Hehe..I mean ATP main draw..but hey!..it’s only been 4 days..there’s plenty of time for u to climb back Boss!

Oh btw…Wee Daveed r 2 sets down now!Hohohoho!…Another upsets today??Hehehe…

AndyMira Says:

Hope Nole will finish this in 4…if not,he maybe ruin my Bracket!!lol!!

Van Persie Says:

Ok, A Ramos Vinolas next for Djoko…this one could be tricky

Van Persie Says:

Vamos DelPo, finish this in 3 please!!!!

AndyMira Says:

He can’t finish it in 3 VP…he just lost the 3rd set…hehe

Danica Says:

Seems like DelPo’s match was in a bit more of a shade. He lost the 3rd.

Van Persie Says:

I saw it now, AM …hope he get’s the 3rd

el_matador Says:

delpo is struggling big time..I hope those 6 missed bp chances in the beginning of this set don’t haunt him..he’s struggling with the heat, struggling with his thigh..and khachanov is a great player with a big serve, big fh and a great bh dtl,has more energy..sad state of affairs

Van Persie Says:

the 4th correction

J.S. Says:

Yikes so Goffin and Delpo are posssibly in trouble??

Still have Zverev tonight!

This is a cake walk for Federer at this point, Rafa will have a tougher time it seems!

Anto Says:

It looks like goffin is going down.

AndyMira Says:

How r u VP?

Van Persie Says:

AM,

I am fine, thank you. Hope U are also good.
Will now start to work, unfortunately :(

J.S. Says:

FYI – Tomorrow’s schedule is out….

Rafa is scheduled to play on Margaret Court Arena!

Unbelievable!

AndyMira Says:

Yeah,i’m good too VP!…Enjoy your work okay?

AndyMira Says:

Calm down J.S!…Play on MCA i don’t mind..but play in the heat again that’ll make me turned to Incredible Hulk!…So,is it day time or evening?

green900 Says:

David Goffin is out!

J.S. Says:

He plays at 7 – 1st night match!

Rod Laver Arena
11am – Kumkhum/Martic – WTA
2nd match – Kostyuv/Svitolina -WTA
3rd match – Dimitrov/Rublev

Night Session
7pm – Kyrgios/Tsonga
2nd match – Bertens/Wozniacki – WTA

Margaret Court Arena
11am – Allertova/Linette – WTA
2nd match – Busta/Muller
3rd match – Bondarenko/Rybarikova – STA

7pm Nadal/Dzumhur
2nd match Ostapenko/Kontaveit – WTA

The problem is people bought tickets to see Rafa and now cannot get tickets to MCA…sad for Rafa fans! But, agree glad he is playing at night!

Margot Says:

Congratulations to Nole, survived the heat and Monfils.
Wonder where Benny grew up. Looked as cool as a cucumber out there, whereas poor wee David wilted like a flower in the desert.
JMDP got pegged back, temporarily I think.
C H U N G YAY!

AndyMira Says:

Oh yes J.S!…That’s great!…But don’t want too overjoyed…wanna give some respect to Nole & fans who don’t have the same fate as Rafa so far…

AndyMira Says:

Btw…Another upsets today!!Hohohoho!…What a tournament so far!

el_matador Says:

great win for delpo..vamos!clearly he’s exhausted..I dnt have high hopes for his 3rd round against berdych..tiafoe,khachanov,berdych..brutal 1st week draw for him

Willow Says:

Never in doubt, just as i expected, Gael pinching a set, but after a blip Novak in four, Geal just lacks the stamina to push the top guys over 5 sets, sad Goffin went out, Delpo just went through in four, i think hes good foor an upset against any one of the top players, as he can catch fire on any given day, but i doubt hes a contender to win this or any other GS anymore ….

Willow Says:

I Miss Jalep, where are you my friend :-(

J.S. Says:

MIRA,
No disrespect…I was actually rooting for Djok!

Happy for Delpo too (class act)

Willow Says:

Halep / Bouchard match could be quite interesting ….

Wog Boy Says:

“The Australian Open stop-play heat policy only automatically kicks in when the temperature exceeds 40 degrees, but it can be activated at the tournament’s discretion.”

That’s stop-play heat policy, so what really stopped officials from implementing it, one degree or lost income, it is still at tournament discretion to activate the rule when they want??!!

Willow Says:

Go on Simona, i love to see Bouchard getting her backside kicked ….

J.S. Says:

Zverev up 6-1 6-3 in less 1 hour!

Also, Djok confirmed he was mad about playing in the heat and did NOT request day match….Told you!

Willow Says:

Novak was always going to deal with the heat better than Gael, seems unfair to play under those conditions though ….

Willow Says:

Halep through in straight sets, Ash Barty a set down against Giorgi ….

AndyMira Says:

J.S!…Hehe..I know you’re rooting for Nole…We both r!…I just really upset seeing the organizer’s keep doing this to him over & over again…It’s no laughing matter playing in the heat 2 times in a row..it could cost u slam!…btw..you’re not sleeping J.S?You’re blogging since morning my time…don’t want u to turn to zombie u know!…

AndyMira Says:

Willow!….I miss jalep too!…Oh!wait!…U have the inner power right?Summon her here Will!…I have no idea what to do anymore…

Willow Says:

Wonder if Gonzo is watching Barty v Giorgi, i believe he likes Giorgi, its quite a good match too ….

Willow Says:

AndiMira ill try anything, get my crystals out, Clive and me are going to the woods today to plant our christmas tree as its Wassaling so i will do one of my rituals, and write an affirmation and pin it to the tree, its quite sad, and i feel a bit down about it ….

AndyMira Says:

Yeah..i’m really down too Will…she & i always discussed who are we going to pick on TDC..that’s why i miss her so bad…if only we could have turned back time….

J.S. Says:

Dang I like Wawrinka….He is struggling!

Zverev should win in 4!

Van Persie Says:

Come on Giorgi, mack a comeback.

A long tiebreak would be very appreciated! ;)

Anto Says:

I hope Simona win the grand slam.

Van Persie Says:

^ make, not mack

Willow Says:

J.S im rather getting the impression with Stan that he aint completely over his injury ….

Willow Says:

Looks like Ash will take Giorgi to the bakery ….

J.S. Says:

Willow….you are probably right! I just like him (: was hoping he was ready!

Will finish Zverev match and keep an eye on Wawrinka (maybe will get 2nd wind) and then going to bed….long day!

Wish we had a chat room to talk during matches….

Willow Says:

J.S i like Stan too, hes a set and 4 /0 down now, Zverev will most likely close this out in 4 ….

Willow Says:

Stan out, my brackets gone to pot now ….

Margot Says:

SG1: Oh pet, are you homeless now? Do you need to come and live with me?……;)

Wog Boy Says:

Guess what? Nole is playing again day match on saturday, I guess he asked for it?!

Willow Says:

Federers playing very well ….

Willow Says:

Federers an amazing player, but its sad to here is fans cheering an error from his opponents ….

BBB Says:

Well, it seemed insane to me that Djoker would request a day match since (1) he can beat Gael in perfectly decent conditions and (2) the heat is problematic for him. If they’re not going to address the heat, then they need to rotate players through it, even princelings.

gonzalowski Says:

Giorgi just lost… :`(

Wog Boy Says:

Giorgi is hoooooot…..

Van Persie Says:

BBB,

Before I did read, that Djoko stated, he was not asked about the schedule, I had only one explanation: that he wanted to play on RLA, since he did not have much of experience there last year, to see how he can move on the new surface, as there was no room for him to play at night there, since it is reserved for Roger:

http://metro.co.uk/2018/01/18/roger-federer-admits-requested-night-match-amid-novak-djokovic-scheduling-claims-7239931/

Willow Says:

Gonzo yeah saw the match she played very well for about a set and a half, then sadly fell away, sorry i know your a fan, pretty girl by the way ….

gonzalowski Says:

it’s for her tennis style!

Willow Says:

Gonzo lol i know ;-)

Willow Says:

Personally i always hated the assumption that Rafa fans are only interested in the guy for his looks ….

gonzalowski Says:

Who do I want to cheat … I do not know anything about tennis! last position in the bracquet :((

Van Persie Says:

Perhaps Roger is right, and it ‘s not healthy to change the rhythm: the one who are starting to play at night, should only play at night, therefore, it’s better for Djoko not to change the temperature and to play only during day light. lol.

gonzalowski Says:

is there a prize for the last?

Willow Says:

Last but one grrr Stanimal :-(

Willow Says:

Maybe a booby prize lol ….

Okiegal Says:

Regarding Novak match…..all the commentators could talk about was how Novak asked for a daytime match because he knew he would do better in the heat than Gael???? Did he really ask for the daytime match? Just curious what the “real” story is………

Wog Boy Says:

Oki,
Check new thread for the answer.

BBB Says:

okie, there’s no way Djoker is asking for daytime matches. But this is apparently the second time ESPN has said someone requested a day match when they didn’t, the other one being Nadal.

Someone’s PR machine is in overdrive.

Wog Boy Says:

^^👍

Van Persie Says:

Haha,

Like Okie, I was confused today, as I did read, that Djoko had asked for daytime match and after the match, Djoko declined this. And also agree, same about Rafa yesterday….why are they spreading this fake news??

Wog Boy Says:

“….why are they spreading this fake news??”

VP,
To divert attention from…you know who?

gonzalowski Says:

who? the Fed? Trump? Woody Allen?

Van Persie Says:

From Giorgi, Gonza :)

Wog Boy Says:

Ohh yes, gorgeous Giorgi…but we love her tennis, no?

Wog Boy Says:

Ok, it was a long day, home sweet home..and my bed, see you on Saturday for Nole match..yes, it’s daytime match, so kids can watch it too…

gonzalowski Says:

Good night for the antipodas

Van Persie Says:

Yeah, I will have my breakfast and coffee earlier, enjoy it while watching Djoko, hehe… should be 26 degrees on Saturday in Melbourne, so it should be good for Nole, I hope

RZ Says:

Wog Boy – glad your plan B worked.

Okiegal Says:

Thanks everyone for the feedback on the “real” story regarding Novak and his request for a daytime match……..appreciate y’all!!
