Rafael Nadal is idle this week, so Roger Federer by reaching the Rotterdam semifinals can regain the No. 1 ranking for the first time since 2012.
ADHEREL
Top 10ers joining the top-seeded Federer in the field are Grigor Dimitrov, Alexander Zverev, and David Goffin.

ABN AMRO WORLD TENNIS TOURNAMENT
ROTTERDAM, Netherlands; surface: indoor hard

Seeds: Roger Federer, Grigor Dimitrov, Alexander Zverev, David Goffin, Stan Wawrinka, Tomas Berdych, Lucas Pouille, Gilles Muller

Floaters: David Ferrer, Richard Gasquet, Mischa Zverev, Andrey Rublev

Notes:

Tough starts for (3) Zverev vs. the veteran Ferrer, (8) Muller vs. a qualifier then the hot-handed Gasquet, (6) Berdych vs. the elder net-rushing Zverev, and (7) Pouille vs. the riser Rublev…

Wildcards were awarded to Federer, Canadian riser Felix Auger-Aliassime, and Dutchmen Thiemo de Bakker and Tallon Griekspoor…

Withdrawing from the field were Roberto Bautista Agut, Nick Kyrgios and Jo-Wilfried Tsonga…

Federer to become No. 1 will likely have to beat a qualifier, then the Philipp Kohlschreiber-Karen Khachanov winner, then Stan Wawrinka…

Federer first rose to No. 1 14 years ago in 2004 and holds the record for most weeks spent at No. 1 (302). If he makes the semifinals, he will become the oldest No. 1, eclipsing Andre Agassi (33 years old)…

Tsonga beat Goffin from a set down in last year’s final…

Former champions in the field are Wawrinka (2015), Berdych (2014), and Federer (2012,’05).

Willow Says:

Federer will probably get the number 1 ranking back next week, but will probably only have it for a short time, although all would depend on what Rafa does in Acapulco ….

j-kath Says:

Willow: If Roger gets no.1 next week – Rafa will not be able to take it back in Acapulco as he is defending 300 points in the process.

I’m also guessing Roger will also play Dubai if he feels the need to shore up points.

rognadfan Says:

jk,
I doubt,he will enter Dubai, regardless of how he does in Rotterdam. If takes #1, then that ranking will be the one perched on a cliff’s edge (quite literally), as he needs to defend 2000 points come march. Since the point difference between him and Rafa is going to be really small, he needs to defend both MS titles, to keep the ranking (if Rafa doesn’t lose in before qtrs, which I am pretty sure he won’t). And that’s not a guarantee (may be even unlikely) at this age for Roger.

Fed’s ranking is just a short term one but a great feat nonetheless. We all know he is going or it because it’s just inches away. But he could stay there a little longer since Rafa has a monumental task to repeat the feat on clay. That said, I am not betting against it.

j-kath Says:

rognadfan: Yep – anything is possible. Not sure Rafa will be pushed too much at FO…missing will be Roger, Nole, Andy (latter never won but can be competitive there)and Stan is a bit shaky these days –
– leaves New Gen. none of whom have won a GS yet….however, also not betting.

Daniel Says:

Actaully rognadfan, he doesn’t need to defend both IW and Miami but he sire will habe to won IW again.
It all depends on madla as well, because if Federer wins Rotterdan and IW and Nadal doesn’t make beyond semis in next 3 tourneys he plays: Acapulco – IW – Miami, Fed may only need a Miami Semis to keep #1 ranking entering clay.

For Nadal won’t make that difference because as Fed is probably sitting down on clay, Nadal will be #1 seed in all clay tourneys he plays.
It just the total amount of his weeks that will change.

I think the rankig will be back and forth between them for a few months now.

Any clay torney Nadal doesn’t win and he will lose points also (bar Rome where he lost QF last year).

Small steps, now he needs Rottedam semis, more will be a bonus and some chushion points for later.

Willow Says:

Thanks J-Kath, Daniel, RogerNad fan for the details ;-)

j-kath Says:

Okey doke Willow…good to get everybody’s contribution.

Willow Says:

Thanks J-Kath, my posts usually come with a sly dig afterwards, which im now going to ignore, i look forward to Rafa in Acapulco whatever happens, shame Okie cant stand the sight of this forum anymore, i still talk to her on FB, im begining to know how she feels ….

rognadfan Says:

jk-
I agree, ranking will likely be back and forth for next few month.
Willow-
Good move. But I hope you don’t follow Okiegal. I remember her posts quite well.
Just remember, there is no shortage of beings who believe their entire existence is meant to spit out hate and spite towards those who don’t support their player. Sadly, there are enough on this Forum. And it’s not limited to just one player, it’s common to all top players.

That said, it’s safe to guess that both Rafa and Roger will do well next week. So, I think Roger will take #1 ranking, albeit it will be a short one; if you ask me.

rognadfan Says:

Daniel-
Sorry I mistook your post as jk’s. But great post. I agree with you, next few months will sure be interesting.
What do you think about Novak? Will he be back for any Clay events? May be RG?

t4t Says:

oh don’t worry rognadfan, Willow won’t leave this forum. She loves bullying and loves to complain about the forum (it is stupid, it is bad… it is boring…endlessly)
What will she do without her daily dose of grouse and bullying?
Sly describes Willow perfectly. Remember her attacks on Jane when Jane posted about Fedfans french kissing Fed? It was very sly.

t4t Says:

With the rigged draw and schedule, Frauderer has # 1 in the bag.

Willow Says:

Thanks Rogernadfan ill ignore the trolls ….

Chris Ford Says:

Roger’s happier than a pig rolling in shit that the shoe is on the other foot. He is not injured, his biggest rivals are all hurt and out of playing or not at 100%. He has also, after 10 years of arrogance in refusing to – changed his backhand so Rafa cannot feast on it.
As most here know, I’m a Djokovic fan and a as my rooting backup guy, a Murray one – who of course respects and admires Roger and Rafa. But I am liking Roger taking over from Novak and Andy as the go-to food endorser and cook as he pairs with Barilla Pasta Co. in the heavy ad campaign running on just how delicious, healthy, and chewy their products are (inc pizza crust dough mix, frozen crusts in the USA) All thanks to the glorious, glutenous semolina wheat used.
Hope he is sending his Barilla vids to Novak as he recoups from elbow surgery, adding, “doesn’t that make you hungry for real pasta or pizza??”

Willow Says:

Pasta or pizza ? Both lol ….

j-kath Says:

Willow: If Okie doesn’t get her butt back here asap – I’ll hunt her down….after all – the diarheea mouthed-guy isn’t here – let’s make the most of it…..

Willow Says:

J-Kath ill try talk her round , hopefully she just needs a break then she will be back ….

j-kath Says:

Willow: Watching “Spy” – got Jason Statham …..seems to enjoy the “F” word – but has its moments. Goodie night.

t4t Says:

Troll Willow slyly implies that it is because of me that Okie doesn’t come here any more. But once again ( how many times?????) this is a lie. Okie posted that she loves my posts and reads all of them. She is wise and witty and the only thing that puzzles me is why she thinks the troll Willow is “a fine gal”.

t4t Says:

Chris Ford @ 3:42pm….Lol!!!

t4t Says:

Willow @ 3:12 pm….A good resolution but I am puzzled: How will you ignore yourself?

AndyMira Says:

Hey Willow,Giles & other Rafans!…Check this out guys!

http://www.tennisworldusa.org/tennis/news/Rafael_Nadal/51816/92yearold-woman-writes-emotional-letter-to-rafael-nadal/

Now,i wonder if Skeeze also can come up with emm…let’s say 93 years old super fan who wrote the love & adoration letter to Fed…Is there any?Thee he he he…

Willow Says:

Thanks AndiMira fantastic to see such lovely support for Rafa, from a dear sweet old lady, sadly people dont seem interested in positive Rafa news though, time violations and doping they would be here for their pound of flesh you could bet your last dollar on it ….

Anyway sorry Fed fans for hyjacking your thread momentarily ….

Willow Says:

Thanks The Mind Reels for the feed back i have Nadal as my favorite, but i do respect the achievements of the other players, however i will defend my favorite if and when i think its warranted, i wont go down the road of the “AO” scheduling as i think its been discussed till we are all blue in the face, i did at the time mention it, as i thought some of it was unfair, it wasnt about Federer it was an overall generalisation, as i wouldve said the same thing about any player, Madmax said to me you cant complain about draws ever again with the draw that Nadal got at the USO, when what i was talking about was the scheduling not the draw which are two completely different things, all players benefit from soft draws at times, and i dont care about that, you play whos in front of you end of, what irritated me at the time was posters making it all about Nadal fans attacking Federer, which granted some did, but the Djokovic fans also did their own fair share of taking a pop, same with posters singling out Nadal for retiring against Cilic again singling him out like hes the only one, i believe in been a fair posters, but that doesnt mean im being unfair fan if i defend my favorite player ….

Tennis Vagabond Says:

Roger has a pretty ridiculous draw for a 500 event. After an opener against bemelmans, he could get Kachanov, Wawrinka, Zverev and Dmitrov.

Its far from certain that Fed is going to get through. He’ll be favoured in every match, but none of these would be huge upsets for the underdog.

If he does get through, it would be easy to imagine #1 changing hands several times. If Roger pays any clay events, Rafa will be under massive pressure to repeat last years success. If Roger fails to repeat at IW and Miami (Rafa also has a lot of points to defend), he could lose #1 by a slim margin- and then Rafa could miss a few points early on clay and Roger could take back #1 without even playing.
As a poster said above, with Novak, Andy and Stan all compromised, who can really challenge Rafa on clay? Well, Rog would have an outside chance (hard to guess who would rank higher – Thiem? Zverev?). If he plays…

Certainly hope we have the Missing Three back competitive by clay.

On the other side of Rotterdam’s draw, will be great to see how Felix A-A does, trying to follow the success of his buddy Shapovalov. He gets a real winnable first round match before running into Dmitrov.

Daniel Says:

Rognadfan,

Don’t think Novak will be much a contender on RG now.

Wait the clay events (if he is fit to play). But his serve was vulnerable in AO and some of his shots lacked power. My impression os that he was not hitting as heavy as he could.

Willow Says:

As Novak has had surgery on his wrist, maybe that will put him back in contention by the CC season, if not the maybe by W, however i think its most likely to be the American HC season which is more favorable to his game than grass ….

Humble Rafa Says:

http://www.tennisworldusa.org/tennis/news/Rafael_Nadal/51816/92yearold-woman-writes-emotional-letter-to-rafael-nadal/

I reply back to all those who touch my heart. Including 92 year olds.

As for 93 year old Skeeze writing a Arrongant One love letter..1) Skeeze is busy taking care of cats 2) it takes some amount of skill to write a letter 3) who writes letter when you can just vent on a forum.

skeezer Says:

Nice that you do these things whilst avoiding playing Fed.

skeezer Says:

TV,
F-Lo & Bird are through…

t4t Says:

Giles @ 10:50 am….Lol!

t4t Says:

The Fed fawns ( skeezer..I am looking at you) do not know the difference between a draw rigged to provide an easy path to Federer and a draw, which though rigged to be tough for Nadal, opens up so the guy gets an easy path to the final. Rigged draw makes Fed a cheater. Draw opening up makes Nadal lucky. See the difference? Or is it too complex for the simple brains of Fed fawns?

skeezer Says:

“Great stuff. ROFL”
Yeah, it is funny as heck. One idiot twits, then a plethora of responses call him out on it. ROFL!
Keep trolling the internet for stuff on Fed giles, it’s obvious you are obsessed with the guy.

Oh by the way giles & puppet……..
#20. GOAT.
#can’ttouchthis🎼

rognadfan Says:

I am quoting Giles here- “This dude is absolutely deluded and bunkered”.

So, all he/she/they can think of is draws are rigged for Fed. Believes more more than anything else in those ludicrous doping accusations and believes fed is letting other guys win intentionally from time to time’. It becomes even more pathetic when a hater posts sh*t like this, let alone some ‘deluded and bunkered’ fan.

What else, earth is Flat and the ice walls protect him/her/them from falling off the edge?

skeezer Says:

The clowns are gone for now, the bell must have rung for class.

Giles Says:

He likes to play indoors. I guess he can’t tackle the elements. #wuss

j-kath Says:

Willow @ 8.01 am.

I don’t think anyone should apologise for mentioning another player simply because the Tx thread headlines a specific player. Players, play players…otherwise, what’s the point of posting if only one player must be the only subject?

C’mon Andy!

rognadfan Says:

‘He likes to play indoors. I guess he can’t tackle the elements. #wuss’

That must be the reason he’s not won Dubai, You guess.

Willow Says:

Cheers J-Kath ;-)

StarvingActor Says:

Roger is pretty good at showing up ready to play – I hope that’s the case here. Fast courts are a tough place to work your way into the tourney.

You’d think he’d be able to make the semis – although Stan will have something to say about it. Roger’s got his work cut out.

Humble Rafa Says:

although Stan will have something to say about it. R

You mean, The Best Backhand in Switzerland on a wheel chair?

Okiegal Says:

@JK ……….Yes, c’mon Andy!! (I reared my ugly head for one brief moment) Lol……Hey thanks for missing me…..it’s nice to be missed! I visit with Mira and Willow on FB private messenger…..oh if you could only be a fly on our FB wall……some good stuff!! I still read…. but just the short ones!! Needed a little break is all! It was making me cray cray! 😵😵😵 LOL!

Willow Says:

Okie good to see ya girl ;-)

j-kath Says:

Ah yes, Okiegal: I’ll settle for being a homing pigeon cooing on your FB wall – then you can share your private, naughty messages….(whoops! heart rate rising)!!
PS: Applying for passport renewals as we speak….a sister and I planning to take time off together….and hoping to do a tennis tour…who knows where?

t4t Says:

Willow @8:01am
Did you not tell a poster on The Grandstand that you never apologize? ha ha ha ha ha! Hilarious!!!!
“Oh what a tangled web we weave, When first we practice to deceive”.

Okiegal Says:

@Willow
@t4t……..Hey y’all thanks for missing me! Made my day!
@JK…..Planning a vacation around tennis sounds fun to me. I want to go to Cincy ……a couple I go to church with said it was the best venue ever……very reasonably priced and you could get up close and personal with the players. Now that’s what I’m talking about!! Look out Rafa here I come!!👁👁 I wish you would get on FB……I will agree there’s lots of drama on it but no worse than TX!! Lol. Think about it OK?? I wish Margot would too.

Willow Says:

Amit Says:

It should be made a rule in tennis-x that posters here can criticise or even assassinate the character of a player they dislike as much as they can, and nobody should take too much offense of that. However, as a matter of rule a poster should no way be allowed to insult, harass, abuse or question the character of a fellow poster. I mean we all really think our respective faves are the best by far, and thats completely ok! But by no means people should go after each other carrying out full-frontal personal attacks!! Fed/Rafa/Novak may be the best or worst ever in our views, but keep it at that! Anyone who personally attacks a fellow poster repeatedly must be totally banned from coming here. We all know good/bad behaviour and horrifying insults. But wll must keep away from that or else things are getting pretty weird and ugly here already. Criticise or say whatever you want against a player, they are none to us anyway. But let peace prevail among us as after all we are fellow posters to each other and some have even become real life friends through this site!

Amit Says:

Its funny how administrator of this site never enforce peace and amity among fellow posters when things start to get ugly or personal! Whoever is at fault as per the opinion of the administrators should be asked to refrain from personal attack on the other fellow here, and in any case unconditional peace must prevail personally among fellow posters! Why people attack others for thinking differently or even badly of their respective favourite tennis player/s, is beyond me actually. What’s the need to be so angry personally even if someone insults Fed/Rafa or any other tennis player??!! There are better things to do here than to fight over tennis players who are nothihg less than aliens to us! So use your sense and stop the fighting among yourselves for filthy-rich strangers like your favourite tennis stars. Ridiculous how people are so obsessed over sportsmen worldwide! And funny too!

Willow Says:

Amit well said, the players are fair game we all know, like, dislike whatever doesnt matter, i will admit to saying things i do regret about posters who are not even here anymore, i said one was biased, and the other wasnt angelic, which i shouldnt have said, and i am sorry for that now, but i dont see that as being personal which is the difference, we all make mistakes say things we regret, and i dont believe im any better or worse than anyone else here, so id like to wipe the slate clean, but a poster keeps coming after me about this and other things, and doesnt seem to want to let it go, saying im currying favour with the Fed fans, throwing Nadal under the bus, not a real Nadal fan etc its ridiculous ….

Amit Says:

Willow

I know you very well my friend. And i am not implying you in particular. I also do find the non stop bickering between some posters continuously pretty weird ugly and monotonous. I hope they as well us dont get lured by any provocation to say things that we regret later. Has happened with us all until now. At least dont want such unnecessary things to.go on happening here forever! The site admn has big responsibility in this regard!

Amit Says:

Cheer Up Willow Dear😀😀😀
And all you people just enjoy your time here. No need to overthink and overreact. Nobody should keep holding on to the grudges against anybody. And little more vigilance from the admn side on this constant infighting type stuffs doesn’t hurt this site much..

Willow Says:

Thanks Amit, alls fine hun honestly ;-)

AndyMira Says:

Amit 4:06am….Bravo!!…You’re one of the BEST poster’s here bro!…I salute u!!Yay!!

And of coz agree with everythings u said Amit!..I think,it’s all up to Sean & Co to monitor this kind of thing properly…he can do that if he want to…of coz he can..but i think more often than not..sean enjoyed seen poster’s throw insults & bickering with each other too much to do anything about it..

skeezer Says:

Goffin waltz through FLo, Dimi currently in a dog fight with Sugita…

Willow Says:

Ill second that AndyMira ;-)

Willow Says:

AndyMira Says:

Hey Willow!….While we’re on this topic…i hope u stay patient & strong with the ‘unpleasant’ situations that u have to endure atm k?Insyaallah it will go away soon…Just be patient k?

Giles Says:

Cheering for Grigor to take Rotterdam.

rognadfan Says:

^^^
Nice to know that, honestly. But it must be pretty hard to support a lesser version of the player you hate.

Or, Just saying!. :)

rognadfan Says:

^Scratch that ‘Or’

rognadfan Says:

In all seriousness, Dimi has the potential to win it all there, but only if his idol slips before final.

Watched him on that game when Sugita serve for the set. Played great shots, except for that horrible volley.

t4t Says:

Rognadfan It is easy to cheer for any player if he has the remotest chance of beating Frauderer. Fed fawns, which includes ATP/ITF and Craig Tiley, have always treated other players as “lesser” and shockingly claimed there is nothing wrong with Frauderer being given privileges and his great rivals being treated like dirt.
With all the rigging going on, 40 slams are in the bag for the “greater” player. The positive side is, Fed fawns would learn to count to 40.

skeezer Says:

Fed is up next. Curious to see how his form will be.
#20

Tennis Vagabond Says:

Canuck Felix A-A had his ATP debut yesterday, 17 years old, and he took a top-40 player to 7-5 in the third. Expect big things from him in the next couple years.

Can anyone share their thoughts on Wawrinka? Has he won any matches in his comeback? Whats he saying about it? How does he look?
Is he EVER coming back to the elite?

Giles Says:

Who’s fed playing? A qualifier no less. Lol

skeezer Says:

^Why do you care? Lol

skeezer Says:

TV,
Once he got injured, he has been AWOL

SG1 Says:

Was playing in the court next to the court Felix A-A was training on at the National Tennis Center in Montreal. He’s going to be awesome. He is very smooth and fluid and it doesn’t look like he has any holes in his game. I believe that he’ll be better than Shapovalov when it’s all said and done. And he appears to be a very nice guy.

SG1 Says:

Didn’t realize it was him at first until I walked up to him to pick up a ball that went into his court. When I realized who he was, I was thinking “Wow! This explains why the guy in the court next to us is just obliterating the ball so consistently.”.

jatin Says:

This tournament has brought a strange level of excitment in me. It makes me feel like I am in the verge of witnessing HISTORY which may never be witnessed again.

t4t Says:

Fedexpress @ 2:23pm
Correct! He is now Count Dracula.

t4t Says:

skeezer is proudly showing off that he can write #20. Definitely something to celebrate! Keep it up skeezer! More power to the potion!

t4t Says:

Who is Fed gonna face next? Kohli. What is Fed’s h2h against him? 12-0! Oooh, madmax and the rest of the Cult are gonna have a sleepless night worrying about the tough opponent!
Fed has carefully chosen only those big names in his half who haven’t been playing well like Zverev and Wawrinka. He would have chosen Kyrgios if that guy hadn’t withdrawn. None in the other half can threaten Fed’s #1 ranking aspiration as they can only meet him in the final. Hats off to the Master Strategist. Maestro indeed! clap clap!

Tennis Vagabond Says:

SG1, Shapovalov has made the jump to the men’s game, which is not something any jr star can take for granted, but A-A was the bigger star as a junior, I was hearing his name before Shapovalov’s, who is a year older. Remember, he made the French Jr finals the month before Shapovalov won the Wimbledon Jrs. Then A-A won the USO.

You never know how Davis Cup line-ups will play out, but within two years, Canada could have the highest ranked top three. No offence to Andrew Snazder and Grant Connell, but this is an embarrassment of riches for Canada right now.

I’m jinxing all three of them right now. I’ll stop.

skeezer Says:

“Humble Rafa Says:
Did I miss anything?”
Talk to giles and its puppet. They have a real time tracker on Feds activities.

skeezer Says:

Sasha and Wawa lost on purpose to help Fed win, of course along with the ATP, and the entire Tennis world. This of course is giles/puppet reasoning, which they hope someone out there agrees with them. I don’t of course LMAO.

t4t Says:

Sasha isn’t in form. Wawa is almost a wheelchair player because he really had a knee surgery unlike the magical surgery Frauderer underwent at U of B.

skeezer Says:

Players play who is in front of them. Thats it. Can’t choose who you play. You EARN your way by “winning”. You just rant like a sore loser and a obsessed jealous hater. No problem for me, but a concerned problem for you?
#trytherapy

t4t Says:

skeezer, You are deliberately missing the point. Fed decides who he could play in front of him. In other words, the draw is always rigged in favor of Fed with a few “tough” players or “big” names who are not in form or injured put in his quarter so media can talk about his “tough” draw and madmax can have hysterics.

t4t Says:

Believe me, I am not jealous. I am just sad that tennis is now corrupted by Frauderer and reduced to a farce. He may win 40 slams now but as he himself said, it would be a joke. RIP tennis.

skeezer Says:

“RIP tennis.”
ROFL. Thats why the stadiums sell out when he plays.

In real life, I think Skeezer and t4t are very happily married – otherwise how do they know so much about each other?

Giles Says:

Poor skeezer. Going to have some anxiety attacks this week it seems.
#takeyourmeds

Willow Says:

Its looking most likely that Federer will get the number 1 ranking this week, although im hoping this motivates Rafa later in the year, even if he doesnt get the number 1 ranking back, i just would love him to win more GS not that 16 isnt already a fantastic number anyway lol ….

DC Says:

Its surprising how many times Rafa has claimed to be injured when he is losing a match in a grand slam. I think he may have the world record for ‘getting injured while losing a GS match’.

Anway, great job by GOAT of all sports aka Federer for actually being the best player on the tour since the past 1 year. And he truly deserves the no 1 ranking and will snatch it back from Nadal for the second time in his career.

Giles Says:

Lol. Nothing has been snatched YET!

DC Says:

@Giles Says:
Lol. Nothing has been snatched YET!

When a Mercedes is about to overtake a Kia on a race track, one can very well be sure that the Mercedes will overtake the Kia – An old chinese proverb

Willow Says:

I Dont believe you get what you deserve in this world, you get what you earn, the rest i cant completely disagree with, but Rafa is far from been the only one, however what do people expect when a player is injured, play on and risk making things worse, play on lose anyway, and have the press conference afterwards where they pump you for information, try to get their pound of flesh, and entice you into having a conversation about the injury your carrying, even if the players say i dont want to talk about it ?

t4t Says:

Losing a match when you are injured is normal. Is DC saying that all other athletes win when they are injured? Fed fawn logic is equal to gibberish! ROFL!

skeezer Says:

Dimi’s match is on. Krajinovic holding is own so far…..

Giles Says:

t4t. Do you have any idea why t1t is giving us a running commentary on the Rotterdam matches?
And why is DC concocting proverbs?

skeezer Says:

Dimi in a TB.
“giving us a running commentary on the Rotterdam matches?”
cause I know you clowns aren’t watching, you too busy ranting here.

skeezer Says:

4-3 Fed

skeezer Says:

Both guys serving well so far…

Daniel Says:

Fed is missing few shots when pushing the trigger. On serve he is flawless, but he needs a string or 3 points in Kolhs games.

FedExpress Says:

a one sided H2H is sometimes dangerous.

skeezer Says:

@Daniel
Agreed.

Daniel Says:

It’s like he is in the rush a bit. No patience to construct points much. But maybe is because he knows his serve is writing so he can take more risk son the return.

FedExpress Says:

SP has come and gone

Daniel Says:

After a set point, tiebreak it is. Hope he keeps the serving, if so he should take the breaker.

FedExpress Says:

TB time.

Daniel Says:

Kolhs is playing great this lats 6 pants, no mistake and heavy shots.

skeezer Says:

Can’t believe Kohls BH, which in the past was a liability,

Daniel Says:

3 aces this tiebreak. Set point Fed!

Daniel Says:

Finally a UE from Kohsl

skeezer Says:

Fed hit a phenom BH return of serve on set point for Kohls, then was back in the TB, never looked back and stole that set. Wow.

jatin Says:

Fed so nervy in this match, kohls played an awesome set. But clutch from fed in important moments.
1 set to go :)

El_Flaco Says:

Kohls isn’t going away.

FedExpress Says:

Kohli playing. No doubt.

FedExpress Says:

*well

RZ Says:

I’ve always liked Kohlschrieber. He hasn’t had any huge wins, but he’s always been a solid no-nonsense player who makes the top guys work hard.

Daniel Says:

DF on 5-5 to lose the game. With the way Fed is serving, it was MP.

Fed averaging 1 min and 36 sec per game. Serve for the match now and 1 match away from history, again!

FedExpress Says:

Break Federer

Fed will serve for the match it.

Mjj288 Says:

I stepped away when Fed was serving at 30-40 4-5 in the 2nd. Returned with Fed
breaking up 6-5. Feels good.

FedExpress Says:

Federer one match win away to reclaim the no 1 spot

jatin Says:

We are 1 match away from witnessing HISTORY.
Expecting a super nervy Fed tomorrow, but I know he will pull through. Can’t wait.

the_mind_reels Says:

Federer and Kohlschreiber have often had tight matches in their career H2H with most sets being decided 7-6 or 7-5 or 6-4. Good to see Roger staying focused and playing the big moments so well! Hoping he keeps his form at least through tomorrow if not through Sunday!

skeezer Says:

All credit to Kohls. Didn’t play like a guy who has been beaten 12 times. He has wins over Rafa, Novak & Andy.
Onward Fed to #1!

j-kath Says:

Not sure about Rafa or Novak but the head to head Phillip vs Andy is:

Phillip 2010 …1 win Phillip.
Andy thereafter…5 wins Andy.

Willow Says:

Phil.K seems to be one of the nicest guys on the ATP, but he will always be a good player, rather than a great one, thats the way with the top 4, and Stan, and then theres the rest ….

the_mind_reels Says:

@Willow: agreed. I’ve often enjoyed watching him play because he’s one of those guys on tour who has weapons and who’s shown some of his real talent in the majors, earning his “giant killer” moniker along the way. Hell of a backhand too!

No thread for Rafa as he is not participating in any tennis tourneys this week so I shall post this here.
Fed in Rotterdam chasing #1 while Rafa is in Amsterdam for his Foundation.
Bravo Rafa !

AndyMira Says:

Rotterdam..Amsterdam..They dam,u dam,i dam..Rafans will be damn this week!…Urgh!!

the_mind_reels Says:

Giles: I’ve always admired both RN and RF for the work they’ve done with their foundations and for the mutual respect this contributes to each guy. Glad to see Nada still making it a priority!

#Church of Fed vs Reason

Markus Says:

I won’t engage in a debate with somebody whose arguments are based on fantasy because it won’t go anywhere outside of La La Land.

t4t Says:

Markus @ 9:13 pm You mean you won’t engage in debate with any Fed fawn?

t4t Says:

JK @3:54 am. skeezer is my biggest fan and follows all my posts. He misses me when I am not around. As for me, I am his #1 fan.

Re RIP tennis
The crowds come to watch the Frauderer show, not tennis.
Does anyone in the Cult watch tennis?

skeezer Says:
