Rising youngsters Stefanos Tsitsipas and former champ Lucas Pouille will contend, along with a few unseeded floaters giving the seeds some early challenges.

MOSELLE OPEN
METZ, France; surface: hard

Seeds: Kei Nishikori, Stefanos Tsitsipas, Lucas Pouille, Richard Gasquet, Nikoloz Basilashvili, Adrian Mannarino, Filip Krajinovic, Philipp Kohlschreiber

Floaters: Jo-Wilfried Tsonga, Benoit Paire, Mischa Zverev

Notes:

No Top 10 players in the field but three of the Top 20; the Top 4 seeds receive opening-round byes…

Interesting starts for (1) Nishikori vs. Tsonga, and (8) Kohlschreiber vs. the net-rushing elder Zverev (winner to meet Paire)…

Marius Copil withdrew from the field…

Wildcards were awarded to Frenchmen Quentin Halys, Ugo Humbert and Corentin Moutet…

German Peter Gojowczyk, who starts against Tsonga, won last year’s title, beating Paire in the final.

Former champions in the field are Gojowczyk (2017), Pouille (2016), Tsonga (2015,’12-11), and Gilles Simon (2013,’10).
