Juan Martin Del Potro Undergoes Right Knee Surgery, Career In The Balance

Juan Martin del Potro underwent surgery on his right knee on Saturday in Barcelona after a spill he took during Queen’s re-injured that knee which was fractured last fall.

After the injury, del Potro posted this message on Instagram in which he admits he not sure if Queen’s was his last event.

Del Potro turns 31 in September.

Not even a year ago, he was battling Djokovic in a Slam final. He may never play again. Great guy with heart, physically fragile in his limbs yet so powerful and talented.
You don’t need records in a sport to be a notable and fan favorite long after you leave the field. If this knee surgery ends his career, (and who wishes for that!) – his reputation and the remembrance of fans of who he was in the sport will live on.
