Ash Barty will play her first tournament in Australia as a Grand Slam champion this upcoming week in Brisbane where a loaded field will chase the World No. 1.
Contending with Barty will be 6 of the Top 10 including defending champion Karolina Pliskova, Australian Open holder Naomi Osaka, former champion Elina Svitolina, Kiki Bertens and 2-time Slam winner Petra Kvitova.
Angelique Kerber, Sloane Stephens, Maria Sharapova, Danielle Collins and Madison Keys are also in the field.
Following a bye, Barty’s road could take her through Sharapova, Kvitova or Stephens in the quarters and then Svitolina or Keys in the semifinals.
Kerber also takes on Sam Stosur in the first round; Svitolina collides with 2019 Australian Open semifinalist Collins and Osaka battles the dangerous Maria Sakkari.
