Stan Wawrinka will open his 2020 in Doha where the 3-time Slam winner will be the top seed. With so many stars playing the ATP Cup, Wawrinka is the highest ranked player at No. 16 and the lone top 20 in the field.

Former finalist Andrey Rublev joins the Swiss along with Milos Raonic, lone former champion Jo-Wilfried Tsonga and Frances Tiafoe.

Wawrinka has a bye then could run into Frenchmen Jeremy Chardy and Adrian Mannarino. The 34-year-old Wawrinka made the Doha final way back in 2008 when he lost to Andy Murray.

Wawrinka finished 2019 beating Novak Djokovic in the US Open fourth round before losing to Daniil Medvedev. He went on to make the final in Antwerp, the quarters in Basel withdrawing to Federer, and the second round at Paris where he fell to Rafael Nadal.

Last year, Roberto Bautista Agut beat the now-retired Tomas Berdych in the final. It was Berdych’s last career ATP final.
