Federer, Nadal Set Record For Largest Attendance At A Tennis Match
Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal are already one of the greatest rivalries in the history of tennis, and now the two stars added their names to another record. Playing yesterday in a “Match for Africa” charity exhibition, an all-time record crowd for a tennis match of 51,954 turned out to watch the two legends raise over $3 million.
That crowd far exceeds the reported previous high of 42K which happened just last fall when Federer took Alexander Zverev to Mexico City.
The 2014 Davis Cup final between host France and Federer’s visiting Switzerland team had 27,432 spectators, the largest crowd to ever watch an official match.
