Sebastian Korda continues to climb up the rankings. On Saturday, he made another move in his young career capturing his first ATP title beating former French semifinalist Marco Cecchinato 6-2, 6-4 in Parma, Italy.

Korda joins in father Petr as champions in the men’s tour. They become the third father-son duo to win ATP titles after Phil and Taylor Dent and Ramanthan and Ramesh Krishnan.

The 20-year-old Korda didn’t drop a set all week.

“This is something that I’ve dreamed of,” Korda sid. “I really thought I was going to get it done in Delray Beach, and I was a little heartbroken.

“But I stayed positive, even with such a bad first part of the clay court season. I took a couple of days off, recharged my batteries, and had a really good practice week in Prague with my dad and my coach. I came back hungrier, and I’m playing some really good tennis now.”

Korda becomes the first American man to win on red clay in Europe since Sam Querrey beat John Isner to win Belgrade in 2010.

Korda will open up at the French Open against Pedro Martinez on Monday. He could face Stefanos Tsitsipas in the second round on Wednesday.
