Positive COVID Test Forces Coco Gauff Out Of Olympics
American teen sensation Coco Gauff had to pull out of the upcoming Olympic games in Tokyo after testing positive for COVID-19, the star announced today on social media.
The 17-year-old will have to put off her Olympic debut three years due to the result and wait for Paris 2024. And her summer schedule will also be impacted.
Gauff was also scheduled to play in the women’s doubles event with Top 10 Nicole Melichar. Bethanie Mattek-Sands and Jessica Pegula for now will play doubles with Melichar opting for another partner potentially.
The American team will still have Jennifer Brady, Jessica Pegula and Alison Riske in the singles.
