Rafael Nadal Announces He’ll Be Out 6-8 Weeks, Back For Clay?
Rafael Nadal announced today he’ll likely miss the March Masters events in the U.S due to the left hip injury suffered last night against Mackenzie McDonald. The Spaniard had an MRI which turned much worse than thought.
“Good afternoon. I have undergone medical tests after losing yesterday. The MRI shows a grade 2 injury in the iliopsoas muscle in my left leg. Now it’s time for sports rest and anti-inflammatory physiotherapy. Normal recovery time 6 to 8 weeks,” Nadal posted on social media.
Six weeks put Nadal at the start of March. Indian Wells begins March 8 and Miami March 22. Both of course on hard courts which has been Rafa’s least favorite surface. With the clay season weeks away, it would make send he would take the extra month to prepare for the clay.
Nadal will also likely miss the scheduled Las Vegas he has with Carlos Alcaraz.
