Novak Djokovic, Andrey Rublev Headline New Banja Luka ATP Event
World No. 1 Novak Djokovic headlines a new tour stop in Banja Luka. The Serb will hope to rebound after a tough loss last week in Monte Carlo to Lorenzo Musetti.
“Feeling is terrible after playing like this, honestly. But congrats to him. He stayed tough in important moments, and that’s it,” Djokovic said in Monte Carlo.
“I don’t think it’s catastrophic, but my feeling is bad right now because I lost the match.”
The field isn’t deep but new-minted Masters champion Andrey Rublev is joining the party.
Top seeds are: 1 Novak Djokovic, 2 Andrey Rublev, 3 Borna Coric, 4 Miomir Kecmanovic, 5 Tallon Griekspoor, 6 Jiri Lehecka, 7 Richard Gasquet, 8 Gregoire Barrere.
No. 1 Djokovic is projected to meet 8 Barrere in the quarters, No. 4 Kecmanovic – 6 Lehecka, No. 5 Griekspoor – 3 Coric, and 7 seed Gasquet – 2 Rublev in the bottom quarter.
The semifinals could see Novak Djokovic against countryman Miomir Kecmanovic and Andrey Rublev taking on Borna Coric.
The top seeded Djokovic has a bye then could meet Stan Wawrinka in the second round in his opener!
The second seeded Rublev will seed the Juan Pablo Varillas-Hugo Gaston winner.
Wildcard Gael Monfils meets Jiri Lehecka in the match of the first round.
