Rybakina, Garcia, Gauff Lead 7 Of Top 10 In WTA Eastbourne; Kvitova v Ostapenko Opener
Seven of the Top 10 women will be in Eastbourne this week led by reigning Wimbledon queen Elena Rybakina.
The Kazakh will hope to get back on track after a shock defeat last week to Donna Vekic in Berlin.
There are four former champions in the field including defending champion Petra Kvitova just won Berlin. In a rematch of her 2022 title win, Kvitova will meet Jelena Ostapenko who just won Birmingham!
The top seeds are 1 Elena Rybakina, 2 Caroline Garcia, 3 Jessica Pegula, 4 Ons Jabeur, 5 Coco Gauff, 6 Maria Sakkari, 7 Petra Kvitova, 8 Beatriz Haddad Maia.
No. 1 Rybakina is projected to meet 8 Haddad Maia in her quarterfinal, No. 3 Pegula – 5 Gauff, No. 7 Kvitova – 4 Jabeur, and 6 seed Sakkari – 2 Garcia in the bottom quarter.
The semifinals are projected to be Elena Rybakina-Jessica Pegula and Caroline Garcia-Ons Jabeur.
The top seeded Rybakina opens with qualifier then gets the winner of Madison Keys or a qualifier. Keys is another former champion.
The second seeded Garcia also opens with a qualifier before the winner of Sorana Cirstea and a quali.
