Zverev Rallies To Reach Chengdu SFs, Gets Dimitrov; Musetti Wins
At the Chengdu Open in China the Top 3 seeds all reached the semifinals.
In quarterfinals action on Saturday (it’s a Tuesday final), top seed Alexander Zverev rallied from a set down to defeat 7th-seeded Miomir Kecmanovic 5-7, 7-5, 6-2.
Zverev finished with 13 aces, tossed in three doubles and went 5-for-17 on break chances.
Zverev reaches his 55th career semifinal where he’ll face No. 3 seed Grigor Dimitrov who handled Christopher O’Connell 6-4, 6-1. Zverev leads the Bulgarian 5-1.
No. 2 Lorenzo Musetti moved into the last four with a 6-3, 6-3 win over Arthur Rinderknech of France.
The 21-year-old Musetti won 24 or 30 first service points and never faced a break point.
Musetti moves into his 10th career semifinal. Up next for the Italian is Roman Safiullin who got a retirement from Jordan Thompson after the Russian took the opening set 7-6(1).
