Roddick Heads ATP Lyon Field
Posted on October 21, 2007World No. 5 Andy Roddick, who the ATP just announced has secured a spot at the year-ending Masters Cup, is the top seed this week at the Grand Prix de Tennis de Lyon.
Roddick's opening match will be a crowd-pleaser when the American squares off against homecountry Frenchman Fabrice "The Magician" Santoro.
Also seeded in Lyon are Tommy Robredo, Tommy Haas, Richard Gasquet, Ivan Ljubicic, Juan Monaco, Nicolas Almagro and Gilles Simon.
The No. 2-seeded Robredo also opens against a Frenchman in Marc Gicquel.
Other openers of note are No. 8 Simon vs. Andrei Pavel, No. 7 Almagro vs. Mardy Fish, No. 5 Ljubicic vs. Sam Querrey, and No. 3 Haas vs. Igor Andreev.
Gasquet is the defending champ in Lyon, in last year's all-French final defeating Gicquel 6-3, 6-1.
