Posted on July 12, 2008

The Beijing Olympics have forced four ATP events in one week for the first time in the history of Open Era tennis in 2008, and the results are seen this week at the Dutch Open in Amersfoort, where top-seeded and No. 48-ranked Marc Gicquel is the only player in the field in the Top 50.

Other seeded players at the red clay event are Argentina's Jose Acasuso, Belgian Steve Darcis, Spain's Marcel Granollers, Spaniard Al Montanes, Frenchman Florent Serra, Argentine Martin "The Fix" Vassallo Arguello, and Spaniard Santiago Ventura.

Receiving a wildcard is former French Open finalist Martin "Berzerk" Verkerk who continues his long comeback from shoulder surgery.

The Belgian Darcis won the event last year as a qualifier.
