Williams Sisters, Mattress Mac, More ATP Housecleaning
Williams Sisters in Unfamiliar Court If the court battle the Williams sisters are caught in was a dryer, it would be set on “super spin.” Venus and Serena and crazy pop Richard are in court in West Palm Beach, FL, battling promoters who claim father Richard committed them to a “Battle of the Sexes” exhibition. […]

Higdon Departure Sees Another Key ATP Role Leave U.S.
While a industry source earlier this week said ATP Senior Vice President-Communications David Higdon was leaving the ATP of his own free will, the Tennis Week website today reported Higdon is officially out as a victim of “restructuring” at the tour. “Following a restructuring of the ATP communications and marketing departments, David Higdon has left […]

Rusedski, Rios Just Won’t Retire; Williams Family in Court
Greg Rusedski says he will not retire and will play on in 2007, albeit with an abbreviated schedule that — don’t be surprised — could culminate in a going-away celebration at Wimbledon for the Canadian-Turned-Brit. Unfortunately Grinning Greg has already gone away. Nearly ranked outside the Top 200, Rusedski would be lucky to gain direct […]

Federer Beats Nadal in Korean Cash Grab
Don’t look know but Roger Federer’s won three straight over his chief rival Rafael Nadal. You of course remember the Wimbledon showdown back in July, and the Fed’s convincing straight setter last Saturday in Shanghai. But you may not have noticed – or or wanted to notice – that Fed beat Rafa Tuesday in an exo match in South Korea.

Blake in Final of Possibly Fictitious “Masters Cup”
Apparently there’s this event, the Masters Cup or Masters or Grand Prix final or ATP Championship, something, going on in Shanghai. In the morning I get on the internet and see the results, so unless this is an elaborate internet hoax, something is going on. Today Roger Federer played Rafael Nadal, that must have been […]

ATP “Super Bowl” Gets No TV Time in U.S.
I was out having a few cocktails with a tennis “industry type” the other night, and we were contemplating a potential nightmare that could possibly come true — and now has. What if world No. 1 Roger Federer and No. 2 Rafael Nadal met Saturday in the semifinals of the ATP’s biggest event — the […]

An ever-widening sports scandal in China that has already claimed Shanghai’s top Communist party official Chen Liangyu could threaten the ATP’s Tennis Masters Cup, according to Indian news site Zeenews.com. “It doesn’t affect our tournament. I feel it’s in good shape we’ve got a partner and promoter who work very closely in Shanghai, they’ve been […]

So is there anyone on this planet more in need of the clay court season to begin than Rafael Nadal? I mean what is up with this guy? Has his bad outfits finally caught up to him? Is his arm tired from picking at his you-know-what too many times?

Fix ATP Player Absences with Cash, Not More New Balls
New ATP President Etienne de Villiers took a wrong turn this week at the Masters Series-Paris.But that’s OK. de Villiers has made a number of positive, bold moves since taking over the reins of the ATP, and he’s been on a steep learning curve, immersing himself over the last couple years in […]

Election season is upon us here in the States, and coupled with the circus of seemingly never-ending frustration regarding the oversight of tennis, I thought it might be fun for fans to hold our own little election — in the spirit of Idol and Dancing with the Stars, of course! Election: Tennis Commissioner Position Summary […]
