Hingis Headlines WTA Gold Coast Field
Martina Hingis returns to the site of her 2006 comeback from a three-year hiatus, hoping to better her semifinal result last year at Gold Coast where she electrified the WTA Tour, starting from zero and finishing inside the Top 8 by year’s end.

Williams Lie-A-Thon Approaches Finish Line
As you attend Christmas parties and do your last-minute shopping, the Williams Family Unhappy Christmas Special continues to be played out in a West Palm Beach, Florida court, with this week’s 11th-hour witness adding to the drama.
Lots of lying has gone on in the trial to determine whether poppa Richard Williams […]

I’m really unclear what Sports Illustrated has against the World’s Number 1 male tennis player, but they seem to really have it bad. For details on their snub of Roger Federer as Sportsman of the Year, check out my blogging buddy Sean Randall’s most excellent post, Federer Snubbed, Wade Wins SI Sportsman of the Year, […]

With 2006 cup run over, let’s look ahead to the 2007 Davis Cup draw which doesn’t disappoint, offering plenty of tasty first round matchups. Among the Feb 9 first round highlights, defending champion Russia travels to Chile; Croatia visits Germany; the U.S. will go to the Czech Republic; and, Federer and Nadal may square off as Switzerland journeys to Spain.

Who says December is the tennis off-season? Not Tennis-X fans, for who there is no off-season…or else.

These changes are among the sweeping plans to restructure the men’s game, and are being instituted under the ATP’s new Chief […]

I’m sure many of you here in the U.S. have already heard that our top sports mag, Sports Illustrated, has selected Dwayne Wade as its Sportsman of the Year. Wade, a star player for the Miami Heat, beat out among others our boy, Roger Federer.
I read the story yesterday, pretty remarkable, very well done and a very good read. If you haven’t read it, pick up a copy or click the link above, it’s worth it.

This weekend marks the finals of the Davis Cup between Russia and Argentina. Of course you wouldn’t know it if you live in the U.S. and don’t have the Tennis Channel, because the tie isn’t on. Imagine that.
But since it’s the holidays I won’t go into my lack-of-tennis-on-tv-in-the-U.S. rant. I’ll save that for later.
