Rafael Nadal made his first visit to David Letterman’s CBS Late Show yesterday, and the Spaniard did well. Letterman gave him the usual softball questions asking Rafa about his idols, his upbringing, what language he speaks in Mallorca and the pressure of defending his title. Letterman never once mentioned Novak Djokovic’s name!

At the end of the interview, Letterman invited Nadal to hit tennis balls into the crowd.

Ashton Kutcher was also a guest on the show.

Nadal completed his career Slam at the US Open last year. He will be the No. 2 seed when the draw is announced later today on ESPN2.

If you are in New York City today Nadal will make an appearance at Macy’s Herald Square where Armani will unveil a new 20-foot tall image of Nadal as part of a new underwear campaign. The event is scheduled to begin at 5pm.

And don’t forget Nadal’s new book is now out.

“sometimes it’s better if he is not there…” lol! Funny answer, Rafa. Of course, the expected answer would be “yes, it is good because I am a better player yada yada yada.”

That was a good appearance, though Dave talks so fast, with so many questions, it was difficult to here Rafa’s full answers sometimes.

is that my rafa? of course it is, who else would be so striking and adorable with a killer smile.

what can i say, dave is dave, but what a surprise, he didn’t ask any novak questions. he’ll be the first! i’m not complaining because i;m sick of hearing them, everything gets old after a while. just let the guys play tennis and we’ll see what happens.

vamos rafa!

what a sweet dream! i wouldn’t be surprised one bit if it were to come true. you never know what nadal has up his sleeves. he’s a special kind of competitor and person. personally, i believe anything is possible with God’s guidance, hard work and self-belief. so yes it is within the realm of possibilities.
