Watch Marcos Baghdatis Destroy 1-2-3-4 Racquets [Video]
by Tom Gainey | January 18th, 2012, 4:59 pm

Marcos Baghdatis’ Australian Open was cut short yesterday by Stanislas Wawrinka who beat the Cypriot in four sets 76, 64, 46, 61 in a second round match. But Baghdatis didn’t go down without fury.

After losing the second set the usually mild-mannered Marcos let his frustrations out by smashing four of his racquets in succession. He even smashed one that was still wrapped in plastic! (A first?)

Channel 7 commentator Todd Woodbridge said it was one of the best racquet breaking displays he’s ever seen and it’s hard to argue with the video.

The tactic, however deplorable, did pay off. Baghdatis’ outburst fueled him to win the third set but the 2006 Australian Open finalist came up just short in the end.
