ESPN’s tennis host Chris Fowler sat down with the King of Clay, Rafael Nadal, Sunday in New York City for a Sportscenter Sunday Conversation interview. Making his first appearance in the U.S. since last March, Nadal called his Saturday night 60, 62 destruction one of his best ever wins in a clay final.

He also said that he still feels pain in his troubled knees, but he says it’s not a problem.

Nadal also talked about his time away from the game and he touched on the sticky topic of doping in tennis, which he says is largely a clean sport.

Nadal will play Juan Martin Del Potro later this evening at 9pm on ESPN2.

Humble Rafa Says:

The three kids on the front page..they are mine. I had them when I was 12.

skeezer Says:

Acapulco, was one of my best ever finals on Clay.
ok. I believe you.

Michael Says:

I do not think so. Nadal’s best final is the 2008 French Open final when he just decimated Roger. It was a devastating victory which changed the contours of Tennis history and Rafa taking that confidence ahead even went on to win Wimbledon and become the World No.1. Truly, Roger was psychologically devastated after such a comprehensive defeat. It definitely played a part in his losing that Wimbledon final to Rafa albeit with the narrowest of margins.

I watched snippets of the match, was really impressed by Rafa’s play, really crisp. But I am with Lendl, way too early to gauge Rafa’s level. I think the best place to do that is Monte Carlo.

Can’t wait to see him at IW!!

Giles Says:

Sorry, can’t seem to be able to post video link. Will try later.
