A Crazy Man With A Flare Ran Onto The Court Interrupting The French Open Final [Video]

The French Open final had yet another incident during the final. A few years ago it was a mad man trying to kiss Roger Federer. Today a deranged fan ran onto the court carrying a flare in the second set with Nadal leading 63, 51.

Nadal first ran to the exit once he saw the intruder, then turned away when the shirtless man was tackled by security.

Nadal was serving for the second but incident clearly disrupted his rhythm.


A few games earlier play was momentarily stopped for a few minutes because of a protest in the upper deck.

Unfortunately, this will likely be the most memorable moment of a rather one-sided match.

At least security was a lot faster in dealing with this guy than they were with the guy who ran on the court during the 2009 final.

Disgraceful anti-gay marriage protests. Poor security from the organisers allowing a protester to smuggle a flare into the grounds. They need to tighten up their security; it’s the most lax of all of the majors.

I am really appalled at the lax securing at RG. I think it is dreadful. Whoever this idiot was could have done something to injure any of the players on court at that time. Then all of a sudden they are hailed as heros? How did the guy even get into the stadium in the first place, with a flare?

The security is rubbish. When “Jimmy” was allowed in in 2009, he was so close to Fed, that it scary. He could easily have pulled a knife.

Something needs to be done about this. It has happened too many times. Security is a joke.
