Tennis channel replayed the match.

Not sure if the ‘Wild Thing’ (a nickname for Nick, apparently), can keep the level high enough to beat Raonic in the next match. Reminds me of watching young Federer beat Sampras at Wimbledon in 2001.

Nick Kyrigos was not a good match-up for Rafa on the day. The teenager has a strong two-handed backhand and handles the Nadal forehand like Djokovic or maybe more easily than Djokovic because he is taller? There was no sense of awe about playing Nadal – Rafa owns no space in the Kyrgios brain. And what I really liked about Kyrgios was how he controlled the time and made it clear who was boss when he served. :D

Congratulations Nick Kyrgios!

Michael Says:

That was an atrocious, audacious shot from Kyrgios. It must be easily ranked as shot of the tournament.
