Caroline Wozniacki and Rory McIlroy broke into 2014 with some major news. The happy couple are engaged!

Wozniacki, who had to withdraw from Brisbane with a right shoulder injury, made the announcement earlier today via twitter:

Rory also tweeted after the successful proposal which took place on the Sydney Harbor Bridge:

Just over two months ago rumors circulated that the pair had broken up. And it was last year at this time when there was wild speculation of an engagement. But now it’s official.

Wozniacki, 23, and McIlroy, 24, who first began dating in the summer of 2011, are both off the market.

Congratulations to Caroline and Rory (Woz-Ilroy). And Happy New Year everyone!

Congrats to Caroline and Rory i hope you will both be very happy together.

Humble Rafa Says:

23-24 is too early to engaged. Just saying.

holdserve Says:

Agree with HR. Too early.

However, if it works out, it would be wonderful.

Wish them all the best!

Margot Says:

Agree way too young, especially as he doesn’t seem to share her sense of humour…..

Tennis X Hippy Chic Says:

I dont see 23/24 been too young to get engaged, many people get engaged much younger,i got engaged when i was 19 and married when i was twenty, and ive been with my husband for 27 years, the point is if you know your right for each other, what difference does age make anyway?

holdserve Says:

Agree hippy chic, if 2 people know they are right for each other, age does not matter and marrying early can be an advantage as you can grow up together. As in your case.
But trouble is most people lack the maturity in their early years to actually make the correct decision about who is right for them.

Colin Says:

Hippy chic, you say “if you know you’re right for each other”, but the thing is, you don’t KNOW it. You BELIEVE it, which is a different thing.Very many people getting divorced at this moment probably “knew” they were right for each other.

The greatest failing of the human race is the inability to see the difference between knowing and believing. Hence religion-based wars where both sides “know” they are in the right.

I have my doubts about this particular marriage. She is rather more mature than he is, I think. Hopefully she will give him more stability, but I wouldn’t bet on it.

Tennis X Hippy Chic Says:

Colin first of all happy new year, none of us know what will happen, but point well taken,i suppose everybody goes into marriage believing it will be for life, otherwise i dont think they would bother, all one can hope to do is try their best to make it work,i wish them both the best of luck anyway whatever happens.

holdserve Says:

Starting with a bang was a good pun on Woz’s part!!!

A trifle too risque but amusing!!!
