Not all was lost for Grigor Dimitrov on Sunday. The rising star was sent out of the Sony Open Miami tournament by Kei Nishikori 76, 75 in the third round. But during the match the Bulgarian came to the rescue of a sick ballgirl during the match.

Good thing no “time violation” was called.

After a hot start to the year, Dimitrov cooled off in the U.S. finishing his hardcourt swing losing second round at Indian Wells to Ernests Gulbis and third round at Miami.

The 16th ranked Dimitrov turns 23 in May. He may or may not be still in Miami in support of girlfriend Maria Sharapova who is playing today. Sharapova said yesterday that she was not aware of Grigor’s kind gesture.

Okiegal Says:

Awww, how stinkin’ sweet is that! Skeezer, I like this guy to. He shut up the nosy commentators one time. They were wanting to get up all in his business regarding is relationship with Maria and he nipped it in the bud before the conversation could get off the ground. He said he was there to talk about tennis and not his personal life……kudos to him taking a stand. The commentators laughed and said well that’s not any of our business, huh?? I can see why Maria likes him, seems like a really nice guy. I love to watch him play too.

metan Says:

He has a golden heart!
