If Spanish media reports are correct, Nicolas Almagro’s 2014 season is over. According to Marca, the 27th-ranked Almagro will undergo left foot surgery for plantar fasciitis on Monday.

Almagro tried to play at the French Open but retired to Jack Sock after losing the first five games of their first round match. He then tried a month of rehab will little success, so surgery is now the only option.

ALmagro, who turns 29 in late August, beat Rafael Nadal in Barcelona.
