Gael Monfils Hurts Knee, Davis Cup Final Now In Jeopardy?
High flying Gael Monfils injured a knee Saturday during a loss to Joao Sousa in the Metz semifinals. The French star said after that he’ll have an MRI on Tuesday with the hope that nothing serious is wrong or an extended recovery time is needed.
“I did not want to get injured and that’s what has happened,” Monfils told AFP. “I will have an MRI on Tuesday and hope that it’s nothing serious.”

France will host Switzerland in Lille in two months on November 21 in the Davis Cup final. The French are a deep team but Monfils did play Swiss ace Roger Federer so tough at the US Open earlier this month.
