The incident happened just as Tsonga was serving for the second set at 6-1, 5-2. The metal-spiked panel appeared to have been blown off the top of the scoreboard in the windy conditions at Roland Garros.

Margot Says:

What a bizarre incident. It’s mighty windy in the UK too. Lucky no-one was badly hurt.
But the tennis gods of Roland Garros must really dislike Jo. He was cruising up till that point :(

jane Says:

^ agree margot; super bad luck for tsonga. he had all the momentum. glad no one was hurt though.

Jeez Says:

Everyone is talking about winds, changing momentum but NO !!

What about the shoddy maintenance work of Roland Garros?
First intrusion in matches & now this

May be the spectators now bring their helmets & protection gears along with their umbrelllas

Michael Says:

The infrastructure here is very brittle not befitting a Grand Slam event. It is time to shore up and give a face lift to this venue which is lacking on several fronts including security issues.
