Wimbledon Champion Serena Williams Arrives In Bastad Where She Hopes To Relax [Video]

There’s little rest for World No. 1 Serena Williams. Just a few days after winning her second “Serena Slam” and a sixth Wimbledon, Serena landed Monday in Bastad for the Swedish clay court open.

Serena opened play earlier today beating No. 215 qualifier Ysaline Bonaventure 62, 61.

After Bastad, Serena’s busy summer schedule takes her to World TeamTennis, then Stanford, Toronto and Cincinnati before trying to complete the Calendar Slam at the US Open starting August 31.

Irony…..yep, the “iron” woman of tennis! What an amazing athlete she is. Chasing records is what she’s all about now. Records weren’t that big of a deal when very young…..now she’s on a mission in her older years……..backwards, to my way of thinking! But whatever, she Ricks it on the tennis court. Love her passion. I know a lot of fans out there have a problem with it, but her serving prowess blows me away!!
