The US Boys national 18s in Kalamazoo, MI yesterday went the distance Sunday with top seed Frances Tiafoe taking the title over Stefan Kozlov 6-2, 6-4, 4-6, 4-6, 6-4. The 17-year-old Tiafoe also gets a main draw spot at the US Open with the title.

It’s over. I have a wild card draw to the U.S. Open. I don’t have to play tennis anymore,” Tiafoe told Mlive after the four hour plus final. “I had so many things going through my mind. It was such a relief. It was very tough.”

Tiafoe beat Wimbledon junior champion Riley Opekja in the quarterfinals then French Open junior winner Tommy Paul in the semifinals.

Kozlov upended No. 2 seed Taylor Fritz in the semifinals.

In the girls 18s finals in San Diego, 16-year-old Sofia Kenin beat top seed Tornado Alicia Black 6-2, 5-7, 7-5 to earn her berth in the US Open main draw.
