Zverev Wins Beijing Opener Over Zverev, Murray v Berrettini Tuesday
Alexander Zverev came out victorious in his opening in Beijing Tuesday besting American Frances Tiafoe 6-3, 6-2 in just 70 minutes.
Zverev, who now leads Tiafoe 5-1 in a US Open triumph, will await the Felix-Auger Aliassime-Ramos Vinolas winner in the next round. The German is in the hunt for a spot in the year-end ATP finals, but has some ground to make up in his pursuit.
Andrey Rublev knocked out former finalist Grigor Dimitrov 6-2, 7-5. Karen Khachanov advanced over qualifier Pablo Cuevas 6-2, 7-6(7) and 2018 semifinalist Kyle Edmund fell to Chinese wildcard Zhizhen Zhang.
On Tuesday, Andy Murray resumes his comeback against US Open semifinalist Matteo Berrettini and top seed Dominic Thiem takes on Richard Gasquet.
