US Open Women’s Semifinals Postponed To Friday Due To Rain
After 9 days of rain-free and uninterrupted play, weather finally hit the US Open Wednesday causing a 90 minute delay. Matches still got done however the weather system is intensifying Thursday prompting the tournament to go ahead and cancel tonight’s two women’s semifinal matches.
Women’s Semifinals (Session 21)
The current weather forecast calls for rain throughout the evening and as a result the Women’s Semifinals, Session 21, will be rescheduled for tomorrow, Friday September 11, with play beginning at 11:00 AM. Gates will open at 10:00 AM.
Men’s Semifinals (Session 22)
The Men’s Semifinals will move from a start time of 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM on Friday, September 11. Session 22 ticketholders will have access to the grounds beginning at 10:00 AM and entry to Arthur Ashe Stadium following the Women’s Semifinals.
The US Open which has been hampered by rain in the past, will have their 500 million dollar roof operational for the 2016 event.
ESPN will air both sets of semifinals and the Saturday women’s final at 3pm and Sunday men’s final at 4pm will go on as scheduled.
