Venus Avenges Serena Loss, Beats F-Bombing Vinci To Reach Wuhan Final
A hobbling Venus Williams avenged a stunning loss by sister Serena at the US Open by beating Roberta Vinci today in the semifinals at the Wuhan WTA event.
Vinci, who beat Serena at the US Open foiling the World No. 1’s bid for the Calendar Slam, took the first set before Venus recovered and hung on to win 5-7, 6-2, 7-6(4).
“Definitely watching the match at the US Open, I learned a lot from Serena,” said Venus.
“If I could, I’d give my win to Serena at the US Open – unfortunately it doesn’t work like that.”
Venus, though, did injure her leg late in the match. And Vinci repeatedly questioned the chair umpire for allowing Venus to go beyond the 25-second serve time rule. And the two apparently had this exchange during which Vinci dropped an F Bomb on Venus:
Vinci said to Venus on MP: what the fuck? do you want a tea or a coffee maybe? #WuhanOpen
Vinci was clearly right about that

In the final, Williams will met Garbine Muguruza. The Spaniard who wowed the tennis world reaching the Wimbledon final, beat Angelique Kerber
“It was a really tough match and I had to struggle today,” Muguruza said. “Venus is a legend. I’ll have to go out there and do my best to win against her and I think it’s going to be a great final.”
While Venus hurt her left leg, Muguruza also has a concern after injuring her left ankle late in her win. With both players hurting, the final will be that much more intriguing.
And if Muguruza wins, she’s qualify for the WTA Finals in Singapore.
