Roger Federer continues to break new ground, even at the age of 34. In a new Jura commercial, brand ambassador Federer is featured and this time he’s in space! Federer is shown floating in a spaceship looking for a snack. Since nothing looks particularly appetizing, fortunately for him he snaps back to reality and all is well again.

After a disappointing title defense in Shanghai, Federer is back in Switzerland preparing for next week’s Basel Open.

madmax Says:

I had a heart attack this morning, when I read this.

http://www.ibtimes.com.au/roger-federer-news-swiss-maestro-ready-face-retirement-tennis-1477339

The headline: Swiss Maestro Ready to Face Retirement from Tennis.

Such a play on words, but I guess the reality of it will always be hard.

jatin Says:

Same here Madmax. When I googled “Roger Federer”(which I probably do every other day to find the latest news about him), I saw that news and It shocked me. That day would probably come one day though :(… Just can’t get enough of him and his game.

‘Right now I’m not planning to retire and I hope to comeback in Rotterdam also in the next years. For sure, considering my age, it could not be like this. I didn’t know in 2012 or 2013 what would have happened, so right now I don’t know too, but it possibly could be my last participation there’.

He even thought about retiring after the davis cup 2014

But when you look at the field and where he stands. There is only one player who is capable of beating him right now and that is the World no. 1.
Such a level of play he can still produce even at the age of 34.
Next year is going to be very important for him. An Olympic year.
Can’t wait to see him again on court. No matter win or lose.

RZ Says:

He has said for years now that he plans to play until the Rio Olympics. But from what I remember he never said that 2016 would be a stopping point, just a point he would play through. As long as he’s playing well, why stop?

madmax Says:

Jatin! Yes, we are singing from the same hymn sheet. Glad I am not alone here.

RZ, absolutely agree.

Tennis, for me, will be very lonely without watching him play both on TV (yes, I can watch re-re-runs for the rest of my life), but also live.

I hope to go and watch him play live again next year.

Humble Rafa Says:

When I googled “Roger Federer”(which I probably do every other day to find the latest news about him)

Seriously…I knew people around here were not normal.

jatin Says:

Says a guy who thinks he is actually ‘”Rafael Nadal” for like 5 years now ?
What do they say ?
Yeah “Dissociative personality disorder”

jatin Says:

madmax
Obviously not. But I would assume you must have been following roger since his prime or even before that.
