For many, especially in the U.S., who missed Roger Federer’s win over Grigor Dimitrov last night in the Brisbane quarterfinals, here are the highlights:

Federer won the match 64, 67(4), 64 to improve to 4-0 against “Baby Fed”.

“I thought I played really well considering, and caught sort of a second wind in the third set,” said Federer. “I had to focus hard, so I thought I was able to relax again midway or at the beginning of the third at some stage, and the break came at the right time, so that was good. I thought he served actually very well. I took advantage of the fact of getting maybe too many second serves in the third.”

Federer will now face Dominic Thiem in the semifinals tonight. In the other semi it’s Milos Raonic against Bernard Tomic. Will we see an Ivan Ljubicic-fest Federer-Raonic rematch from a year ago?

“I was very impressed with what I saw,” Federer said.

“He’s got one of the strongest one-handed backhands we have in the game,” Federer said of Thiem. “Today he had a really tough match against Cilic but these are the matches the young guys have got to win to take it to the next level, and that’s exactly what he’s doing.”

Gypsy Gal Says:

Even a a Rafa fan i will be the first to say nobody plays tennis quite like Roger….

Sarah Says:

Have to disagree with you here, GG. After watching Dustin Brown playing in WB last year against Rafa, I have understood, what it means to have a “pure talent”. But talent without work is nothing…

Gypsy Gal Says:

Agie Radwanska….

MMT Says:

Disappointed that we don’t get this tournament in the U.S. Looks like it was a real barnstormer. Having said that, it seems Dimitrov has not made the two adjustments I think he needs to make to break through: spot serve on first and second serves (rather than hunting for aces) and stay on top of the baseline no matter what (he still retreats too readily in my opinion).
