Roger Federer Went Bananas After Watching This Point From The Sharapova-Davis Tiebreaker [Video]
Roger Federer was next on Rod Laver waiting to go on after the conclusion of the Maria Sharapova-Lauren Davis match. With Sharapova down up a set but in the second set tiebreak 5-4, Federer was hoping for a quick turnaround from the Russian so he could get on court.
And his hopes improved when Davis missed an easy volley during a 27-point rally that would have given her a 6-4 lead.
Here’s his reaction (with Grigor Dimitrov in the shot):
Unfortunately, Davis hung on to win the set. Sharapova, though, blew her out in the third round and Federer is now on court.
Federer later talked about the scene and hanging with Dimitrov before the match.
“If we’re in the same space, it happens. It wasn’t because it was Grigor we were hanging out. I didn’t even know he was back there,” Federer said.
“But because we know each other quite well, yeah, we were pretty chilled going into the match. We’ve both been well-prepared. Sometimes you don’t look much at the other guy. But with Grigor it’s different, like with other guys on tour. There’s many guys I would speak to before a match.”
