Also agree regarding Serena. Very gracious in defeat. She’s so much more likeable when she acts like a champion. It was once said about Nicklaus that he was even more gracious in defeat than in victory. Hopefully, Serena has taken this to heart going forward.

what an adorably emotional and sincere speech from angelique. really happy for her. admittedly, i thought when she took out vika – who i thought had the best shot versus serena – i assumed serena would power her way to #22, but kerber is such a surprise. very sweet. i can’t imagine serena not winning another couple slams this year to complete another record, but it’s been interesting to watch these big upsets the last 2 slams.
