Hi Angelique,

I live in Canada and I have been a huge fan of yours for many years. I am so pleased that you are the new 2016 Australian Grand Slam winner. Keep the momentum going. You are a fantastic player. Believe in you and you can do wonders.

Once again, I am so glad for you. CONGRATULATIONS!.

Ranji Rajaratnam,

SG1 Says:

Incredibly emotional and gracious. She stared down both Serena and adversity in this match and didn’t blink. Awesome tournament!

SG1 Says:

Also agree regarding Serena. Very gracious in defeat. She’s so much more likeable when she acts like a champion. It was once said about Nicklaus that he was even more gracious in defeat than in victory. Hopefully, Serena has taken this to heart going forward.

Gypsy Gal Says:

I find it funny that she seems quite cordial with players like Stosur and Kerber both girls that have beaten her at GS,yet there seems to be alot of annymosity between her and Sharapova….

Okiegal Says:

I liked the big smile Serena gave her as she walked over to her……… and the hug between them. Serena was gracious in defeat.

jane Says:

what an adorably emotional and sincere speech from angelique. really happy for her. admittedly, i thought when she took out vika – who i thought had the best shot versus serena – i assumed serena would power her way to #22, but kerber is such a surprise. very sweet. i can’t imagine serena not winning another couple slams this year to complete another record, but it’s been interesting to watch these big upsets the last 2 slams.

srinivasan sadagopan Says:

certainly gracious in defeat; her face was full of admiration when she hugged the opponent Kerber going across the net. everyone appreciated this gesture
