Men’s Notes: No Top 10 players in the field…The former champ Ferrer will try and make up for a disappointing claycourt season where he didn’t win a title…Tough starts for (7) Muller vs. Haase and (6) Seppi vs. Mannarino…Wildcards were spread around to American Stefan Kozlov, Frenchman Nicolas Mahut and Dutchman Igor Sijsling…Withdrawing from the event were Richard Gasquet, David Goffin, Pablo Carren Busta, Alexandr Dolgopolov, Joao Sousa, Fernando Verdasco and Alexander Zverev…In last year’s final Mahut beat Goffin…Former champs in the field are Mahut (2015,’13), Ferrer (2012,’08), and Benjamin Becker (2009).

Notes: Field features one Top 20 player in Pliskova…Wozniacki returns from a foot injury…Wildcards were awarded to Pliskova and Brits Robson and Freya Christie…The slew of tournament withdrawals included former No. 1 Victoria Azarenka, Madison Keys, Petra Cetkovska, Irina Falconi, Monica Niculescu and Lesia Tsurenko…In the tournament’s WTA-level debut last year Ana Konjuh, who returns this year, beat Niculescu in the final.
