Gael Monfils is having the summer of his career winning 18 of his last 20 going into today’s quarterfinal against countryman Lucas Pouille at the US Open.

The talented Frenchman has been very focused and professional all summer but in the last round against Marcos Baghdatis, Monfils re-opened up his bag of tricks.

Monfils lost the point and then was asked after why he pretended to do it.

“To be honest, I have no idea what happened,” said Monfils. “Sometimes those points don’t mean anything for me. Just — I don’t know. I just lose it.”
