The Big 3 return to the semifinals for a second straight Grand Slam, second time in Wimbledon history after 2007. Roger Federer beat Rafael Nadal in that 2007 final, today they meet in a Wimbledon semifinal for a first time.

Defending champion Novak Djokovic seeks his 6th Wimbledon final. The Serb has won his last 12 matches at Wimbledon but has lost his last two to Roberto Bautista Agut, who is playing his first Grand Slam semifinal.

Federer or Nadal will be in the Wimbledon final on Sunday.

ITF NOTES
* Should Novak Djokovic defeat Roberto Bautista Agut today, he will guarantee a showdown between 2 members of the ‘Big 3’ (comprising of Djokovic, Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal) in the final on Sunday. Should that happen, it would be the 22nd occasion that a Grand Slam final has been contested by 2 of Djokovic, Federer and Nadal. It would also be the 7th time it has happened at Wimbledon and the first since Djokovic defeated Federer in the 2015 final. Djokovic has played Federer in 4 Grand Slam finals, with Djokovic leading 3-1, and has played Nadal in 8 Grand Slam finals, with the pair tied at 4-4.

NO. 1 NOVAK DJOKOVIC (SRB) v NO. 23 ROBERTO BAUTISTA AGUT (ESP)
Head-to-head: Djokovic leads 7-3
* An 11th meeting for the pair, and their 4th at a Grand Slam, but their first at Wimbledon or on grass. Djokovic has won all 3 of their previous meetings at the Grand Slams in 4 sets, most recently in the 3rd round at Roland Garros last year. The pair are meeting for the 3rd time this year, with Bautista Agut having won both their meetings in 2019 – in the semifinals at Doha, where he went on to win the title, and in the 3rd round at Miami-1000.

NO. 2 ROGER FEDERER (SUI) v NO. 3 RAFAEL NADAL (ESP)
Head-to-head: Nadal leads 24-15
* Nadal and Federer meet for the 40th time at Tour-level and for the 14th time at a Grand Slam. They first met at AMS Miami more than 15 years ago, and first met at a Grand Slam in the semifinals at Roland Garros in 2005. Nadal leads both the overall head-to-head and the head-to-head at the Grand Slams 10-3. It is the pair’s 5th meeting in a Grand Slam semifinal. Nadal has won all 4 of their previous Grand Slam semifinals – at Roland Garros in 2005 and this year, and at the Australian Open in 2012 and 2014. They have contested a total of 10 previous semifinals at Tour-level overall, with Nadal leading the head-to-head in their Tour-level semifinal meetings 7-3.

FedExpress Says:

So it will be windy today?

Madmax Says:

11mph FedExpress.

Are you looking forward to the match? Both matches and who do you think will be in the final?

Daniel Says:

Djoko with great start. Slicing a lot to not give Agut much rhythm. 3-0

Daniel Says:

High level match so far, even with Agut 2 straight errors to got broken again and lose set.
Djoko’s return is amazing and backcourt game also, Agut is not hurting him.

He is in top form and looks like Fedal is gonna be sooner that expected. Djoko in 3

Dave Says:

That was a great set for Djokovic. But he is on a 4 set losing streak against Bautista Agut after winning the first set. So let’s see.

Madmax Says:

Dave Says:
That was a great set for Djokovic. But he is on a 4 set losing streak against Bautista Agut after winning the first set. So let’s see.

July 12th, 2019 at 8:50 am

Dave, Novak is coasting right now. He is seriously good.

Freddy Says:

In shock at how slow this green clay is playing.

Madmax Says:

It’s seems more like a hard court to me Freddy.

A bit of a lull from Novak right now. Seems to be uncomfortable with the racquet he is using.

Dave Says:

No he’s getting beaten soundly in the second set

Nits Says:

Game on. Now expect Djokovic to raise his level and a fast third set.

skeezer Says:

Djoker p!ssed at crowd for cheering for Agut. What a baby. What to get them to stop cheering for your opponent? Beat em.
Djoker loses the 2nd.

Daniel Says:

Agua is almost only serving to Djoko’s FH and he is missing quite a few return, food for thought for Fedal if Djoko indeed reaches final after this 3rd set break.

Daniel Says:

Wow, longest rally and DJoko saves BP with a perfect BH DTL winner.

Van Persie Says:

some points are reminding a bit me of Nolandy matches lol

Daniel Says:

Crucial hold with a moral point, 5-2.

Indeed VP, they are super solid from the backcourt.

Van Persie Says:

expected a phisical match, what I do not like, Nole’s body language shows RBA too much, that he is bothered playing him..

j-kath Says:

Vn Persie: Who is the woman in Novak’s box? Don’t tell me that is Jelena………..!!!!!

Van Persie Says:

You mean the woman with glasses? JK, It is Nole’s mother

skeezer Says:

That game by Ahut @ 2-4 up 40-15 is a very telling sign why players usually don’t break through over the top 3 and why they are are yet unable to. Top 3 know the experience of resolve and important points and moments. Remember the moment of being up 40-15 2-4 ready to break back and have a fighters chance of staying in the match. Cause you just lost it. Game over.

Van Persie Says:

she’s looking good for her age

Daniel Says:

I’ve never seen this many balls exchange as in this years Wimbledon, tennis loses as a whole.

Daniel Says:

Now the last thing tennis can do is put a cement base and just a powder of clay and speed up RG, surfaces are losing their uniqueness

Van Persie Says:

Daniel,

Did read somewhere, it is turning into Claybledon 😉

skeezer Says:

VP,
“…it is turning into Claybledon’
Exactly! LOL

Giles Says:

Whine whine whine whine! 😱😱😱

Daniel Says:

Djoko wants the early break to play more freely. Agut super solid still.

Daniel Says:

And he gets it! 2-1 and serve, match on his racquet and serve now.

Van Persie Says:

not complaining Giles, just having a bit of fun 😁

FedExpress Says:

@Madmax

I hope Federer wins. All mental when Fedal happens. Federer cant allow any mental lapses when break or when 40-0 on his serve.

That service game at RG in the 2nd when he was 40-0 up and looked for all money he will lead 5-4 killed me.

Van Persie Says:

JK,

perhaps you meant the brunette from RB’s box? She is RBA’s future wife

Giles Says:

VP. Fun question – who you gonna cheer for in next match. Lol

Daniel Says:

Djoko 1 game away from final.

Madmax Says:

FedExpress!

We are in this all together!

The ups and the downs, but always supporting Federer. That will never change. I agree with you. No mental lapses – I know he kills you, but he is going to play attacking tennis FedEx and he will win if he remains focused, He has it all in the palm of his hand. Give him the credit for being mentally strong. You only have to think of the AO, fifth set, remember? He was down then, and went on to win. He can do this. It’s an incredible moment in history, and we are a part of this.

Let’s go Roger!

It’s a great chance for him, so keeping it real this end. Just ignore Giles.

Van Persie Says:

Giles,

Would be nice of both would lose lol

Van Persie Says:

1 of them to win after the match of the century and to retire in the final. :) just kidding

Madmax Says:

Good Luck FedExpress, I know how it is. Do your thing and let’s enjoy!

Van Persie Says:

RBA did not show much nerve. He did not embarras himself in his 1st semifinal.
Good test for Nole.
Again in the final 🍷

Madmax Says:

Well, on course now. Certainly Novak has weaknesses in his game, he let a lot of emotion intervene, but was there ever really any doubt? May be a small section of doubt, when Agut was the better player.
Agut should be so very proud of how he played.

A good, solid match. I enjoyed it.

Madmax Says:

Novak, a gracious champion.

skeezer Says:

“1 of them to win after the match of the century and to retire in the final. :)”

If they play a long 5 setter, they might as well ;)

Tennis Lover Says:

It will be very very tough for Federer today

j-kath Says:

V-P: So Jelena wasn’t there?

Congrats to Novak – he played well against a worthy opponent.

Daniel Says:

Federer to serve 1st, good.

jatin Says:

I wasn’t even a Fed fan when these two last meet in the Wimbledon. I was 13 then and just saw some glimpses of the that final because it was a big deal. I remember feeling bad for Fed when he lost in that EPIC final because I kind of liked the way those two dominated their preferred surface’s. Rafa on Clay and Fed on grass and it was kind of weird to see Rafa finally making dent in Fed’s kingdom.
Fast forward 11 years, Here we are again seeing these two LEGENDS again. I feel lucky to be a tennis fan today.

Go Fed, I am rooting for you so hard today. Play your best.

Van Persie Says:

I did not see her,JK. Maybe she will be there fo rthe final

Dave Says:

Federer isn’t easy to read. But looking at his body language in the warm-up, he looks like a beaten man right now. Nadal looks so positive and confident. So hard to read though as they are very different people.

Van Persie Says:

Match on.
May the weaker man win 😉

Daniel Says:

Nadal way behind to receive and Fed going for the corners with less speed, 3 aces and 3 other unreturned serves.

Tennis Lover Says:

1. Nadal is serving first serve harder than Federer
2. Federer’s second serve average speed is quite low; around 85-90 mph; should be around 95-100 mph today against Nadal
3. His backhand is inconsistent, error prone
4. Nadal is playing overall more solid tennis

So, it will be tough ask for Roger Federer to pull off the win against Nadal, he needs to replicate the game plan of Indian Wells 2017 performance today to play that overwhelmingly authoritative tennis to surprise Rafa, only then he can win.

Dave Says:

Federer serving great so far.

Madmax Says:

Looking good guys. I am liking Fed’s serving wide right now.

Come on Fed Ex, join the club!

Madmax Says:

Dave Says:
Federer isn’t easy to read. But looking at his body language in the warm-up, he looks like a beaten man right now. Nadal looks so positive and confident. So hard to read though as they are very different people.

July 12th, 2019 at 11:41 am

Dave,

I saw the complete opposite. A completely in control and calm Fed. I am the body language expert. Lol..

Madmax Says:

Dave,

Looking good. Feeling great – Fed is smart. Got his Game plan ready. Loving the serve right now.

Daniel Says:

Fed not taking advantage of second serves as in Kei’s match. This game 3 2nd from Nadal and he only won 1 point.

RZ Says:

Congrats to RBA on an excellent Wimbledon. He may not be satisfied with a one-set showing against Djokovic in the semis, but he made his first slam semi and made the #1 player and defending champ work for his spot in the final.

Madmax Says:

Efficient. Clinical serving from Federer.

Daniel Says:

Federer is seeing great with 4 aces in 3 games, while Nadal at 50%, but won 4/5 in 2nd serves.

Tennis Lover Says:

Federer, for God’s sake, convert the breakpoint chances today.

Daniel Says:

Seems both are not into long points today

squirrel0209 Says:

Hi all Fed fans, esp Madmax, Fedec and others.

Havent posted in a while.

I am actually feeling better now seeing how well Fed is serving, I thinm he could do this in 4!

Btw, I’n Harry M in the bracket challenge but I wont win for sure ;)

Madmax Says:

Daniel Says:
Fed not taking advantage of second serves as in Kei’s match. This game 3 2nd from Nadal and he only won 1 point.

July 12th, 2019 at 11:52 am

Fed playiing really well right now. He has a clinical strategy.

Dropped 3 points in 4 service games. Daniel, this is awesome!

Madmax Says:

Come on!

Take your chances Fed!

Madmax Says:

A chance for Fed to break.

Madmax Says:

A game of small margins.

rajesh Says:

No break point conversion😢

Van Persie Says:

Maybe Nole-RBA had a bit too much of ball exchange for a grass game… but I would not mind to see some rallies from Fedal.

Van Persie Says:

If this will go on like this, it will be Isner_Kando from last year 😉

Madmax Says:

Good stuff from Fed!

Great defending.

Daniel Says:

This is the best I see Nadal serve against Federer, even his second serves are painting the lines.

6-5 Fed, at least guarantee tiebreak. Fed slight better as he had a BP, while Nadal couldn’t force 40-40 in any game.

Madmax Says:

Quick game by Fed.

VP, yes, quite cautious. But Fed took some risks on his serve and they paid off.

j-kath Says:

VP: At this stage, which one do you want for Sunday?

Dave Says:

Federer playing better than Nadal. Nadal making lots of errors. Federer can’t afford to let Nadal steel this set. Federer has been the better player in this set.

RZ Says:

@VP – Was thinking something similar. My guess is that most viewers didn’t think they’d see a serve fest.

Daniel Says:

33-31 points for Fed entering tiebreak, pretty leveled. Fed winning more points on return and overall better stats. Also improved 2nd serves point won (Nadal 53%)

Van Persie Says:

JK,

I do not to offend anyone here…
but ok, let’s be honnest, before the match I thought Fed would be the easier opponent, Fed looks now a bit better.. so.. am confused now

Daniel Says:

F$%^ing Nadal. Hit the defense in the corner.

Daniel Says:

Fed needs this breaker more. Nadal will serve 1st second set.

Daniel Says:

Nadal again winning points with amazing defense.

Daniel Says:

Got the mini break immediately again. 3-3. 4 mini breaks already.

Madmax Says:

He gotta stay cool and calm, which he is.

Great stuff.

Daniel Says:

5-3. need this next point to make it 6-3

Madmax Says:

Aggressive belief by Fed.

Powerful.

jatin Says:

Insane stuff by fed in the tiebreaker. Such clean and aggressive tennis. It was a great first set.
Go Fed GO

Madmax Says:

Yesssssssssss!!!!!!!!!!!

First set in the bag.

Brilliant Roger.

Daniel Says:

Federer returning better and better later on, had the chances 3-4, than 5-6 down 0-40 won 3 straight points and this breaker Nadal only won 1 point on serve. His BH return is pushing Nadal back center baseline. The return that make him win all those 5 matches on HC.

Has to keep his good serving going also, can not risk an early break in 2nd set as Nadal knows the importance of thet set for him.

Great set by Fed.

RZ Says:

@Daniel (12:25pm) – only Nadal could hit a shot that is looking like it’s going way out and have it land on the line. That top spin is amazing.

Glad the TB had more interesting rallies.

FedExpress Says:

Insans tennis and guts by the champ

mini break down twice. But Fed never let it bother him.

Fist set Fed

Madmax Says:

SURE THING Jatin.

He has taken risks, more of them and it has paid off – when he has come into the net, and thrown Rafa off balance. A great match so far.

Van Persie Says:

Dave,

Whom do you want in the final, for Nole?

Madmax Says:

FedExpress Says:
Insans tennis and guts by the champ

mini break down twice. But Fed never let it bother him.

Fist set Fed

July 12th, 2019 at 12:35 pm

Way to go FedExpress!

Daniel Says:

He may swing more freely on return now as he was a but stiff in early Nadal’s games

Daniel Says:

Vintage AO 2017 return and BH cross court winner

Tennis Lover Says:

Maintain that clinical serve, rip that backhand, play more freely and make Nadal doubt- match is Federer’s; But, with Rafa being the fighter the match will never be over. Federer needs to maintain that ruthless aggression.

Madmax Says:

Tennis Lover,

When Fed plays like this I get goosebumps.

Daniel Says:

Damm it. Fed needs an ace

RZ Says:

Another new record for Fed after that first set – most aces ever served at Wimbledon (he passed Ivanisevic who had 1397)

Daniel Says:

C’mon Fed, free point on serve, go for the lines.

Daniel Says:

Great and important hold. Now go on and keep forcing returns

Madmax Says:

Beautiful Maestro.

FedExpress, you holding up?

Tennis Lover Says:

Nadal’s fans abrasively brags about Rafa’s H2H advantage over Roger, but they bluntly ignore two facts; 80% of those wins came in clay where Nadal is inarguably greatest of all time and one more thing that Nadal has that huge stylistic advantage of the way Federer is forced to play against Nadal in any surface. So, we need to be more forgiving to Roger when he plays against Rafa in any surface perhaps with the exception of very fast and indoor hard court.

Daniel Says:

Another great deep return. 15-30

Madmax Says:

Stay aggressive. Fed!

That’s the key, but it ain’t easy with nadal as the opponent!

Daniel Says:

Awesome Federer toying with Nadal this point. 2 BPs

Madmax Says:

Clever Federer. Wonderful dropshot.

Daniel Says:

That 2nd serve return at the net on BP is a gift he can’t give Nadal.

Madmax Says:

Took his eye off the ball, but come on! The back hand isn’t clicking.

last chance here Fed. Got to keep up the aggression though.

Madmax Says:

Daniel,

I know…I know! It’s incredible.

Look at Fed’s forehand stats right now. They are saying how accurate it is. However, what I have been so impressed with right now, is Federer calmness. He is deliberately not celebrating or showing any emotion.

Wow! What a match so far!

ronn Says:

Federer hitting the more powerful shots while Rafa has no power in his at all thus allowING Roger to wind up and hit big. I didn’t expect this from Rafa. If this keeps up Roger might just win in straights or at least in 4.

FedExpress Says:

Chance to break gone. Federer has to keep the focus.

Own serve has priority.

Dave Says:

If Nadal doesn’t keep unleashing his forehand down the line like last year against Djokovic, this match could be over in straight sets.

Madmax Says:

I think they are both in their zone now.

Daniel Says:

Classic missed BP to get broken next game. His aces went awol

Madmax Says:

It’s a game of small margins. Got to stay cool.

Daniel Says:

Broken to love with no 1st serves in. Both decrease their level on serve, but Federer even more, facing BP in both his service games

Madmax Says:

4 aces will do it Fed!

Madmax Says:

break to rafa.

Fed is getting negative commentary here from Castle and Henman.

Ugh, wish they would disappear.

Come on now Fed, get back to his fabulous focus!

Tennis Lover Says:

O christ! This has been the major loophole in Federer’s game, he has lost too many big matches against two of his great rivals because of his inability to convert the break points.

FedExpress Says:

Federer exhausted already? Serve gone after the 1st set

Madmax Says:

Come on Fed. Stay in the zone.

Madmax Says:

Yes, he has lost a bit of power, but let’s see if he can recoup.

FedExpress Says:

Next service game is a must.

Daniel Says:

Fed has to improve his second serve, at 40% he won’t win it. Has to be above 46% for him to have a chance and that if his 1st is excellent.

Daniel Says:

Awful. totally of this set.

Better start thinking in third already. A bunch of UE

FedExpress Says:

How can you play so bad after that first set?

FedExpress Says:

Federer struggled in every service game in this set.

1st set he was crusing.

one sets all.

Crucial set coming up

Daniel Says:

2 sets and Fed unable to break Nadal.

Needs to regroup fast third set and hold opening game at all costs to stop the bleeding. He is not winning any free point observe anymore, no aces. Seems he knows Nadal is crushing 2nd serves return so he is placing 1st serve in to avoid second but with no accuracy, just putting on court. He has to take more risks.

FedExpress Says:

I think that 1-1 15-40 was still in his mind all through the set

He played aweful after that.

FedExpress Says:

But courr is damn slow.

Daniel Says:

“How can you play so bad after that first set?”

Ae, he can’t maintain the same high level against a top player for 2-3 hours. But this is expected in Best of 5.

Daniel Says:

^Age

Finally a love game for him and 2 aces.

Patson Says:

Meanwhile Djokovic is eating popcorn in the living room. Just loving this.

Madmax Says:

Guys I’ve lost my feed!…I’ve been sat in a cafe but heading back and listening through the radio til I reach home. Keep a running commentary for me Daniel and come on Fed!

I’m wondering whether he’s saving energy. Thought he could do this in 3 straight sets but game on!

Madmax Says:

Guys its always a match full of emotion between these two.

FedExpress Says:

Serve back at least.

He has to stay focused. Big big set

Van Persie Says:

I want Fed to win this set

Daniel Says:

Yeahhhhhh

Returns start working again and Fed made a wrong choice and Nadal didn’t volley properly.

Now go on and hold to consolidate the break.

Daniel Says:

What a point. save another BP, 23 shots.

Fed needs some serving now.

Tennis Lover Says:

Federer needs to win this set or the match is over for him.

Daniel Says:

Another long rally and Federer won, 25th shots.

RZ Says:

HUGE hold for Federer!

Madmax Says:

Daniel FedEx thank you guys. Keep ‘am coming.

Daniel Says:

Hold of the match so far, 4-1. He needs to hold his next games or have an insurance break ;-)

j-kath Says:

Madmax: I fully agree with you re. Castle – he does nothing but talk nonsense, I can’t stand him – half the time I have to turn off the sound to keep sane. Henman – at least he has some reasonable tennis knowledge.

squirrel0209 Says:

Come on Fed!! What a hold!

Seems like Fed is losing lots of energy, his FH doesnt have that fire anymore…sign of the aging..hope he find a next gear!

FedExpress Says:

OUT OF THIS WORLD

JUST INSANE

Daniel Says:

Nadal unlucky this pint, 1st he split, than Fed lobby touch the line and volley clipped the net, 0-30.

RZ Says:

@J-Kath, at least you’re spared John McEnroe (unless he does work for BBC), Chris Fowler, and Chris Evert. Talking nonstop without much to say. McEnroe is always pro whoever is winning.

Daniel Says:

15-40, double BP for Fed and insurance break

Tennis Lover Says:

Now play freely, Rip the winners from both corners of the court, make Rafa nervous as hell…most importantly, for Federer’s sake, he has to win the match in 4 sets. If it goes into 5 sets Fed will be tired. He is already having long exchanges with Nadal from the baseline.

Madmax Says:

What’s happening guys?

squirrel0209 Says:

Fed and his BP wasted chances…

FedExpress Says:

Again 2 BPs

but gone

insurance break would have been sooo good

Madmqx Says:

Guys I’m reading your comments like a mad thing!
Almost home!

Come on Fed!

Tennis Lover Says:

Fed’s Break point conversion failure is legendary…opportunity wasted… Will it cost him the match?

squirrel0209 Says:

Fed holds! 5-2

At least he’s dictating the points in this set.

Madmax Says:

Come on!

Federer hold. This is the playground that is your home.

Daniel Says:

Hold, 5-2. Now go on and break to close the set (avoid the tense game of serving for the set) and start serving 1st 4th set.

Madmax Says:

Stay tactical strategic and aggressive.

Van Persie Says:

haha interview with Nole. he’s watching the match at the site. lol

squirrel0209 Says:

True. Fed breaking here would increase his chances of taking the fourth set and the match!

Daniel Says:

Nadal 2/7 on BPs and Fed 1/6. If he convert his potential next break and they will be even

Daniel Says:

0-30, 2 points away from 3rd set. C’mon Fed!!

squirrel0209 Says:

Come on Fed, take the set!

Daniel Says:

Moment of the truth, serving for 3rd set and 2-1 lead.

squirrel0209 Says:

Yesssssss. On to the fourth and hopefully the final set!!!!!!!

Lovely end of the set by Fed btw! Very solid.

Daniel Says:

2-1 in the bag. He can not allow what happened in 2nd set happen again in 4th.

I like that he was in almost Nadal’s serve this set, he could have broken again at 1-4 and had 0-30 last game Nadal serve. Also he got back serving great and I hope his “blip” was that second set 20 min spam.

Also his BH slice DTL is working and avoiding Nadal from run away to hit FH, neutralizing and forcing Nadal to hit crosscourt to his FH.

jatin Says:

Fed out rallied Rafa in this set. Such high level of play. Jaw dropping stuff.
Hope he can keep it up and it does go like Aus open 2017. It was too tense for my liking.
Madmax, Daniel, Fed Express Keep to intensity going.

Van Persie Says:

Vamos Rafa for this set!

Daniel Says:

Another game Fed was ahead early

FedExpress Says:

Cant breathe properly

Daniel Says:

Damm, Nadal saving this return.

Go on and hold Rog

FedExpress Says:

Please hiccups like the 2nd set

FedExpress Says:

*no

Tennis Lover Says:

Fed can not afford to slacken the intensity gear. He needs to bring some of his rip roaring shots and serve at his best and knock out Nadal in 4 sets. If he can do that, it will boost up his confidence for final against Djokovic. If Rafa somehow can push this to fifth set, I feel the match will be gone from Federer’s hand. So, the 4th set is very very crucial for Federer.

Madmax Says:

Fedexpress so proud of you in this match. Great and real comments by you.
Daniel you are the man when it comes to reliving every point. Amazing. Thank you.

Now this THE match we have all been talking about. Federer must stay tactical and aggressive I know I keep saying it but it’s needed. Its what we expect and what he will deliver.

Daniel Says:

Another 0-30 for Fed

Daniel Says:

Why tennis gods, shot that could set 0-40 touched and pass the net?!

Daniel Says:

This is it, 15-40, double BP and 1st BP on deuce side avoiding Nadal lefty open serve on adv side.

Tennis Lover Says:

The mantra should be break Nadal and do not get broken and finish it in 4 sets.

Daniel Says:

Yeaaaahh another deep center return to force the error.

4 more holds. That will be tense each game now. He will need his absolute best serving and not making any silly mistakes. Have to be super focused.

Daniel Says:

3 second serves and Fed won 3 points. Nadal pissed

Daniel Says:

3 more holds or another break. Keep the momentum.

FedExpress Says:

just dont choke fed

Madmax Says:

What’s happening guys?
Awesome comments Daniel. I’m home in 5 minutes.

Daniel Says:

Federer needs to serve, too many second serve this last points.

Madmax Says:

Come on Federer, You beauty. Get those shots on fire and burning!

Tennis Lover Says:

Guys what’s the situation in 4th set so far? How do you evaluate it?

Daniel Says:

2 great serves when needed. 4-2.

Nadal getting tenser with frustration.Time to place the returns in.

Van Persie Says:

Rafa too nervous

jatin Says:

Fed keep holding. You are already playing such high level.
4-2. Just 2 games. Comon

Tennis Lover Says:

Whoever wins, it will be herculean tussle to beat Novak in the Final.

Madmax Says:

Get in the zone, Get in your zone. Maestro come on!

Daniel Says:

TL, Fed is hitting a bit too many 2nd serves but Nadal couldn’t cpaitliza. Fed still making some moves in Nadal’s return games.

If Fed serves well he’ll close it.

Daniel Says:

30-30 on Nadal serve again.

jatin Says:

SHOT OF THE MATCH

RZ Says:

Federer has always been a great mover but I don’t remember ever seeing him move this fast on a court.

jatin Says:

Its Fed serve now

Madmax Says:

Come on Maestro, great play, great focus. I’m dying.

Daniel Says:

Next is a crucial hold for Fed, to make it 5-3 and put pressure on Nadal serving down 3-5.

The next 2 service games will be tense and pressure for Federer to close it out. He need 1st in. Win opening point in both games.

FedExpress Says:

Just focus on your serve. Only two holds away.

Daniel Says:

Nadal chose the wrong side. 30-0

Madmax Says:

Daniel Latin Fedexpress, some incredible shots by Federer. Got to capitalise on this. Has to.

Daniel Says:

5-3 it is. just 1 more game.

Pressure in Nadal. rather hope he breaks to close.

jatin Says:

Such focus, Such intensity by Fed. Not showing any Emotions whatsoever. Just 1 game to Go. Comon

Madmax Says:

Come on Federer. Karin you became Latin for a moment :-)

Stay in the zone Fed. You can do this.

Madmax Says:

What a maestro. Come on Fed. Hold now, hold. Latin Karin Jatin!..:-)

Stay aggressive and focused Maestro

Tennis Lover Says:

In every Federer match, we (Fed fans) are so emotionally invested that any loss by Roger pricks us badly, let’s hope today maestro brings some happiness for us!

Daniel Says:

2 pinos away. But if he is to have MP here he better close otherwise serve it out.

Madmax Says:

Got to capitalise on this. Has to.

Come on Federer!!!!!!!

squirrel0209 Says:

Pls break Fed..

squirrel0209 Says:

Match point!!!

Daniel Says:

MP it is after another amazing return, the pattern of this match.

squirrel0209 Says:

So true Daniel..

Tennis Lover Says:

Oh, those Break point conversion moment..

squirrel0209 Says:

Wasted BPs again…Hope Fed keeps the calm and serve it out

Daniel Says:

That’s what I didn’t want. Moral for Nadal saving 2 MPs.

Still, Federer has the match on his serve and racquet. Put the 1st serve in.

RZ Says:

Some strong serving needed here. Rafa doesn’t quit and Fed can’t afford to keep him in the match.

jatin Says:

Comon Comon Comon Fed

Tennis Lover Says:

Let’s make no fuss, serve big with precision, finish the match Fed!

FedExpress Says:

I am that nervous

2 Mps came and went.

I sincerely hope he closes this out

Ronald Hill Says:

Sloppy match from both guts. I don’t see Roger beating Djoko in this current form.Just ain’t gonna happen unless he hits a higher gear.

RZ Says:

And Rafa trying to slow things down by taking his sweet time again.

Madmax Says:

Come on Federer. This match has been tactical from the beginning.Unemotional by Federer throughout so it’s time to close it. Just close it!..4 aces will do!

What grit. What grit this man Federer has.

Madmax Says:

Come on now. Clinical. Tactical. No fuss. Just do it!

Daniel Says:

OMG. lost the match on this shot. He choose wrong.

Madmax Says:

Federerrrrrrrrrrrrrr!!!!!!!

Do it!!!!!!!

squirrel0209 Says:

MP on his serve!! Come on Fed!!

Daniel Says:

Again he choose wrong but finish volleying.

MP on serve

Madmax Says:

He’s not going to let this match go Daniel. He will do it, just stay calm.

Come on!!!

Tennis Lover Says:

What is happening guys? Fed is so nervy? can’t serve it out!

squirrel0209 Says:

No way..

Madmax Says:

Screaming now. Loudly. Come on Maestro. You’ve played brilliantly now close the match.

Daniel Says:

Finally he went for FH side, he is trying to go to Nadal N+BH all the time.

rajesh Says:

Come on roger

RZ Says:

What I could accomplish if I approached each task with the same intensity as Nadal plays tennis….

squirrel0209 Says:

At last yasssssss!!!

Congrats to all Fed fans!! Lets celebrate this!!

Daniel Says:

GOATTTTTTTTTTTTTTT

What was this end of match last2 games, only these two can produce. WOW

rajesh Says:

Congrats to all fed fans

RZ Says:

Woohoo! Way to go Fed! That was not easy by any means.

rajesh Says:

Now just one more win

jatin Says:

He DOES IT. HE DOES IT GUYS
What a match, What a performance by Fed. What a LEVEL.

12TH WIMBLEDON FINAL

Van Persie Says:

Dramatic match, feel for Rafa, but he was too nervous today.

Always prefer to see Nole beating Fed, excepting the FO, so… Fed it is.

Daniel Says:

Majority of astrologers were right, picking Federer ;-)

Fed avenge Wimby 2008. Now they are 3-3 in Slams outside RG (3-1 Wimby Fed and 3-1 AO Nadal).
Fed jumps to 14-10 outside clay (almost 2-1 ration)
24/16 HxH, 40% win by Fed, meaning every 5 matches he wins 2.

Keeps the 6-0 straight non clay matches win. Last time Nadal beat Fed outside clay was AO 2014.

And reached his 12th Wimbledon final tying Nadal as most finals reached. Will play for his 9th Wimbledon and 21 Slam on his 21st appearance in Wimbledon.

If Agut can win a set over Djoko sure Federer can do better. 40% Fed and 60% Djoko.

FedExpress Says:

Man i am breathless. Those last two games.

What a legend. Best SPORTSATHLETE ever

Dont care about sunday now. He proved again that age is a number

Van Persie Says:

Daniel,

enjoy the wim, it is a huge one.🙂

But… Fed will play worse and Nole will do better on Sunday

Daniel Says:

For Nadal, either Fed will distance himself from him for 21st or Djoko will close the gap with 16.

Since 2016 When they were 17 Fed / 14 Nadal / 12 Djoko, Nadal won 4 Slams, Djoko 3 and Fed 3. One of them will win 4 also.

So years are moving by and seems not much is changing.

If Federer wins Wimbledon and Djoko USO they will exactly where they were 3 year ago.

For Nadal, another Wimbledon final gone showing that even in slow grass, there is always someone better than him and a reason he doesn’t reach finals here since 2011.

Amazing match and incredible points such as AO 2017 final.

These 2 can produce some epic matches again and again.

Hope the final will live up to this stander, as most likely will as both are on to form.

Freddy Says:

van pirs

get a life

Tennis Lover Says:

A slam win over Djoker is long overdue to seal the burgeoning mouth of Djoker fans and their trash talk, especially someone like Wog Boy

Daniel Says:

Congrats fellow Fed fans, 11 tears wait fir this moment.

And with the way Fed is returning even this improved Nadal serve thing look good for theur potential encounters in HC outumn and going forward.

If somehow Fed can end the rivalry with a 20/25 or 20/26 HxH that would be enough and silent the critics for good. He just need to win 4 of the next 6 to do it. But it would be great him reaching 20 wins. Hope they meet in Cincy, USO and WTF this year😜

kjb Says:

@tennis Lover

If it happened he would just blame it on Pepe anyway.

chrisford1 Says:

What a great Fedal bout!!
Glad the crowd in the other match was with RBA and Djokovic just turned the negativity into positive energy for himself. He will need that mental trick when he plays Fed as we all know who the Wimbledon crowd will back.
I’m glad it is Roger and Novak and not the King of Clay in the final, even though they seem to have turned a few courts at Wimbledon into green clay and allowed not just Rafa, but clay courter RBA to do well.
No dig on Rafa, but Novak vs. Fed is what most people hoped for when the Draw was posted.
I can’t wait!

Tennis Lover Says:

Wog boy’s conspiracy agenda is pretty exaggerated. Should Federer win in Sunday’s Final, I am gonna roast him. He has over the over the years proved him as a sinister human being

Freddy Says:

@chrisford1

Agree.

Fed fan here and fully expect Djoker to win. People forget Djokovic actually prefers faster courts. lets hope next year will be different.

TL, so true, but that is why WE all feel the losses and the wins – and God Almighty, this was a match I have been so looking forward to. Just absolutely brilliant. Watching David Beckham watching the match, and lip reading at the end when he said, ‘unbelievable’. It’s gone viral already.

I hear you FedEx!
Shout out to FEDEXPRESS. FE, YOU were brilliant today and I loved sharing this moment with you.

Thank you.

Daniel, awesome, exceptional commentary from you, you certainly know your stuff.

I am so, so happy right now. Jatin! Are you feeling the love!

Come on!

Tennis Lover Says:

This is like 2017 Australian open scenario, Federer will have to defy all the odds in beating Djokovic on Sunday. It’s basically now or never for Federer, I mean- I do not expect Roger to win Wimbledon next year, he will be almost 39 years, so it will be an unrealistic expectation from us. As I mentioned earlier, a win over Djokovic in a slam final is long overdue. So, it has to happen in Federer’s favour to keep his slam record safe for a little longer. But, given the circumstances, Djoker will be the favourite to win the match.

Daniel Says:

Also had Nadal was a bit worse today and those last two sets could have been easier. Fed was hitting insane shots and Nadal dodge them with a better one. Apart from first 2 sets he was in danger something like 80% of all his service games and he was only broken 2/10. Amazing.

Very curious to see how well will fed return Djoko’s serve and 2nd serve Sunday.

Van Persie Says:

Freddy,

I hav one, and it will get better on Sunday🍷 Cheers

Tennis Lover Says:

His decision to play on clay was pretty ingenious, now his baseline game seems pretty strong. All he needs on Sunday is better second serve and the fearless return game strategy especially from the Backhand side and possibly less unforced errors in loger rallies like it was happening in today’s match, hopefully he can unsettle the Serb. Nadal made great passing shots on occasions and also played his best grass court tennis since 2010 wimbledon victory. So, winning against him today gives us (Fed Fan’s) a lot of satisfaction.

Madmax Says:

J-Kath,

I have to share this with you in particular, because you understand the Castle effect. Not only him, but McEnroe, they just love the sound of their own voice. And to think that 11 years ago, they had the same people talking about the same athletes playing.

Castle talks about the renovation and building works – you will have heard him, and I think Henman chipped in, what could he do? Why do they have AC talking when we are blessed to be watching Federer and Nadal again. I want to, as you have said, switch off when I hear his voice. Former British Number 1, like how long ago? And all of these inane comments he makes. He was totally for Rafa at the start of the match, and then to hear him back track and then big up Fed, he is kind of killing the BBC for me.

Anyway, a fantastic match. I am going to watch the whole match again on replay.

Awesome.

Yes, Novak is the favourite, no doubt about that but he had some noticeable weaknesses in his game and is much more emotional than Roger, in terms of wearing his heart on his sleeve to the crowd, he gets rattled really easy. I could not believe Roger today. He was different, a bit of mind games going on with himself I think. Talking to his inner voice and quelling those doubts which he must have had at certain points.

It was a very impressive game plan from Roger and Rafa was just wow, as I said earlier. Some of the shot making, I’m certain, they have created themselves. Never before have I seen athletes bring out the best in each other the way Rafa and Roger do to each other.

They are inspirational.

j-kath Says:

Gosh – well done to Roger – couldn’t get to see the winning set… But congrats to both players for a competitive match. So on-wards to Sunday which I will see all of it.

I could not have said it better myself Tennis Lover.

Great match. Warms the heart and the spirit, especially when that H2H has got better, and Federer now has laid to rest the ghost of 2008. It was a brilliant, spirited and aggressive tactical plan by Federer’s team. I will watch the match all over again.

j-kath Says:

Madmax: No complaint with your comments. Although Tim Henman purports to be a big fan of Roger – he and his family usually entertain Roger and family when they are in London….at least they did in the days when Andy was a contestant (which is why I remember it!!!!). Ouch! Seriously, Tim is a decent-enuf individual but like a no. of nearly-ran tennis players in the UK can comment reasonably on tennis but knows little more than posters on Tennis-X and ends up predicting like we do.

j-kath Says:

Andy-Mira: Hugs…..he played like the warrior he is. Be proud of him.

Freddy Says:

is anybody gonna call out nadal for his antics?

the guy takes toilet breaks

slows play down

challenges calls to slow play down

change overs are delayed

its a joke!

embarrassing for the sport.

never seen joker or fed do this.

Joker deserves to be no2. on goathood

Truth Says:

Fred won’t be so lucky.
No cakewalk draws from 2009 anymore. No talent-deficient or injured players in 2019. There is a reason why Nadal & Fred lost Wimbledon after Wimbledon.
What happened to the match up excuse for Fred since 2004? Suddenly, he’s not mummified. He’s invincible now? Fred floons and scared Nadal fans are pathetic.

Fred isn’t dealing with the choker and clay specialist Nadal anymore. Stop bragging about the luck-fueled, overbearing, predictably smug Fred and his lucky trips.

skeezer Says:

Tennis Lover,

Saved this gem from Wog Boy:

“I think that 37 years old doesn’t stand a chance against Rafa if they are to meet, unless they close the roof.”

ROFL. Guess what? Apparently the almost 38 yr stood a chance, and made it happen. Roof was open, and Fed won handily. Roofer comments are now closed forever and have no validity.

And that 3rd set?

That hold in the 3rd to go 4-1 AND out hitting Nadal from the BL. Freakin awesome! Outlasting and out hitting Nadal from the BL was rarely something Fed could do. But at Old Man age, 38 next month, he does. This guy will never stop amazing me.

He is……..the Maestro…..the GOAT.

Congrats at the 101rst win @ Wimbledon. They all have been glorious.

j-kath Says:

I am not a fan of ridicule, smugness or abuse.

RZ Says:

@Freddy – yeah he suddenly needed to remove his ankle bandage when Fed was about to serve for the match. It was a total slow down tactic. But it didn’t phase Fed!

Gosh Freddy – Did you think I was referring to you? PS: Sorri,I can’t think of anyone with the initials of “wg”…..It’s late here so I’m off – have a pleasant evening where ever you live.

chrisford1 Says:

Djokovic’s interview had a new thing. He said his biggest goal is to play and be happy, he doesn’t put records above being in a life he wants, (2) BUT>>>>>he would like to win more Slams, and the new goal (3) Is to be the historical #1.

Rafa is getting bald, fast! I though he had hair plugs. No matter, still very attractive to people into guys…And to guys that admire him and want to be in possession of some of Rafa’s attributes.

VP – “You mean the woman with glasses? JK, It is Nole’s mother”

Not the 1st time Djokovic’s mom, who looks much younger than her age, has been mistaken for Novak’s girfiend or wife. Mark Woodforde, one of Djokovic’s coaches when he was a teen, told a story about another coach approaching him. Stressing the need to get Djokovic away from a blonde model “pushing 30″ going nuts cheering him in his box. Using him as a boy toy, hoping to get money and …..Woodforde said he interrupted…”Before you go even further, that’s the kid’s mom..”
In present day, both his mom and dad are looking good. Dad was looking beefy a few years back and almost died from a lung prolem 6-7 years ago. Now he’s slimmed down, muscular.
Didn’t see Rafa’s box, but in Feds, Momma and Papa Fed are looking good and Mirka better as she has shed some pounds.

Freddy Says:

Disgraceful that this wasn’t the final as Djokovic is certainly the favorite on Sunday. Federer will be tasked with once again saving tennis. Is he spent from this match? His break point rate leaves much to be desired, as usual.

Last few games were ridiculous, Federer blowing two match points on Nadal’s serve and two on his own.

Wtf was that challenge from Federer at 5-3, deuce in the last set???
have fun tennis couchies

skeezer Says:

Laugable post to pump up Djoker whilst p!ssin on Fedal. Sliding in – Nadal is getting bald and Mirka needs to lose a few pounds. It would be fair for some to take a swipe at Djoker about his relationship with paying crowds and the unpopularity therein…..but won’t go there. He makes his own bed.

Freddy,
I saw that! What happened was Nadal served and Fed hit a fabulous return that caused Rafa to err…..Feds point right? Nope, Fed inadvertently challenged Nadal’s serve, thinking it was out? Ha!. It was good of course and thus the smile from Fed as he knew he had goofed.;)

Rafa is an amazing player, he never gave up challenging Fed till the very end, stretching out that game with bravado and flair. Just happy Fed gave it the resolve to finish it like he did. No way if Rafa broke back he would have won that set imho.

Truth Says:

Aside from Djoker destroying himself with errors after breaking a racket string & still harboring too much embarrassment/anger because he childishlessly surrendered to Roberto in other matches, he did big genius stuff.

Fedal was as predictable as before. Error after error. Omg 10 years of no Fedal.
How could Fedal have been the best when they had boring matches & only won when Novak was in very bad physical shape? Lmao
These old tv talking heads need to stop lying that 2008 wimbledon final was the best match ever.
It’s pitiful to humiliate other players with this lie. The vicious cycle never wins.
Fred’s best match was 2009 Wimbledon final. Tedious, long & boring. It defined the trash Roddick era very well!

vk Says:

If beating Rafa or roger meant taking home the title, rafa should have won Ao12 and Ao14. So hold your horses until sunday

skeezer Says:

Vk,
Disagree. There has been nothing like Fedal matches. Nothing. Every time these 2 have met, it is the most talked about and watched match. It should have been the final. This final, no matter how it gets hyped, will be anti climatic.

chrisford1 Says:

Squeezer can savor several Fedal matches, as can everyone. But two rivalries have been played more and one (Novak Roger) is of generally higher quality than Fedal. The reason is for many years Fedal degenerated to being akin to watching Rafa (not that he would ever!!) clubbing a baby seal.

=============
Freddy – “Federer will be tasked with once again saving tennis.”
Waaaah?
That falls in the vein of those that swore the NBA would collapse and be gone when MJ was gone, because no way would basketball survive without Michael Jordan there to “save it”. Now the NBA has a market value 6 times what it ws when MJ played his last game.

Tennis was fine before Federer, will be fine after. Tennis will even be fine when “The Queen” finally leaves. And Mens tennis will be OK when all 4 of the Big 4 are gone.

Van Persie Says:

Skeezer,

before Nole-RBA, you were hoping for a miracle from RBA, which is normal, every fan wants an easier opponent for his fave. Fed-RBA would have been an anticlimatic, but not Fedole.
It is a bit anticlimatic for you perhaps, because, deep down, you know, Fed might lose this one.

It is a lot on stake. Should Nole prevail, it would be the 3rd final on Wimbly, won against Fed.

Should Fed prevail, I give him 20-30% chances, then he would win at 37 with beating Rafa and Nole back to back, which he never did at a slam in the past.

Fed outplayed Rafa yesterday, but boy, I think he left a lot of energy in that match.

Andy Mira Says:

JK…4:20pm….Thank u so much for your words!…Hugs back!…
Sorry,a little bit late to reply your msg JK…Don’t have an energy to come earlier…heh heh…
