Stefanos Tsitsipas had to fight to stay alive at the Miami Masters Monday night in the third round, besting Kei Nishikori 6-3, 3-6, 6-1.

Up next for the Greek today is Lorenzo Sonego who eliminated Daniel Elahi Galan 7-6(6), 6-3. Both players will seek their first Miami quarterfinal, and for the Italian his first Masters final eight.

Of the eight matches on Monday, the Tsitsipas-Nishikori affair was the only one to go three sets.

American upstart Sebastian Korda hammer Australian Open semifinalist Aslan Karatsev in very impressive fashion 6-3, 6-0.

“I felt great,” Korda said. “I think my game goes really well against his. I used my tactics that I used at the French Open, and it kind of worked out really well today.

The 20-year-old who lives in Florida will now meet Diego Schwartzman today in the fourth round.

“He’s an incredible player,” Korda said of the Argentina. “He’s having a really good year so far. I think he won a title a couple of weeks ago, and he’s top 10 in the world. It’s going to be another cool and fun experience for me. Hopefully I can play some really good tennis and kind of just have fun out there.”

Andrey Rublev rolled past Marton Fucsovics 6-2, 6-1. Today, the Russian will take on Marin Cilic who was a 6-3, 6-4 winner over Lorenzo Musetti.

It was a mixed day for Canadians. Milos Raonic upended Ugo Humbert 6-4, 7-5 while Denis Shapovalov fell to Hubert Hurkacz 6-3, 7-6(6).

Also today, Daniil Medvedev returns to face Frances Tiafoe. Former champion John Isner battles Roberto Bautista Agut and Jannik Sinner takes on Emil Ruusuvuori.
