Matteo Berrettini continued his solid play on grass. The 2021 Wimbledon finalist rolled into the Queen’s Club final with a 6-4, 6-3 victory over Botic van de Zandschulp.

The Italian has now won 19 of his last 20 matches on grass and is arguably only behind 3-time defending Wimbledon champion Novak Djokovic on the surface. He’s a perfect 9-0 at the event.

“It was a really tough match. We stopped for the rain. I had a lot of chances. It was windy again and really tough to play but I definitely think it was the best match of the week, so I am really happy and looking forward to the final,” Berrettini said.

In a surprise, Berrettini will face Filip Krajinovic who, in a mild upset, toppled former champion Marin Cilic 6-3, 6-3.

“It is an unbelievable feeling,” said Krajinovic who is playing his first Queen’s event. “I can’t believe I am in the final. Before this tournament I had never won a match on grass. I would come here and win just one or maybe two matches, but now I am in the final. It is a dream come true. It is traditional and an honor to play here in front of you guys. It is a dream for me.”

Krajinovic will look for his first win over Berrettini in his third try, and also win his first title in his fifth attempt.

“Let’s see. I am just going and enjoy,” Krajinovic said. “I have nothing to lose, so let’s see. I will enjoy and see what happens and of course give my best.”
