Ruud, Kyrgios, Tiafoe Star In Tokyo

US Open finalist Casper Rudd is the top seed this week in Tokyo. The Norwegian is joined by Nick Kyrgios and US Open semifinals Frances Tiafoe.

Overall, the event boasts four players in the Top 20 with Taylor Fritz also entered.

Denis Shapovalov, Dan Evans, Borna Coric and Japanese No. 1 and Seoul winner Yoshihito Nishioka will also be featured. Projected No. 2 seed Cameron Norrie had to withdraw.


Ruud is slated to face Alex De Minaur in his quarter while Tiafoe could tangle with Evans. Ruud has never won an ATP event above the 250 level.

In the bottom half, Kyrgios, the 2016 champion in Tokyo, and Fritz are projected to meet in the last eight and in the final quarter is Coric and Shapovalov.

Coric, who won Cincinnati, opens against Thanasi Kokkinakis.
