Alcaraz Makes Successful 2023 Debut, Wins Buenos Aires Over Norrie

Carlos Alcaraz finished off a perfect first event of 2023 by capturing the Buenos Aires title over No. 2 seed Cameron Norrie 6-3, 7-5.

The win marks Alcaraz’s 7th career title in nine finals, and his first since his amazing US Open triumph in September.

“I felt very comfortable playing the final,” Alcaraz told the ATP. “I knew that it was going to be really difficult. I started really focused on what I had to do at the beginning, my game, my level. This is the level that I have to play in finals.”


The 19-year-old from Spain broke serve four times in the match including a final break at 6-5 to win the match. Alcaraz ran off seven straight games to from 2-3 down in the first to take command of the match.

Norrie drops to 5-12 against Top 5 players and 1-4 against Alcaraz. He was seeking his 5th career title.
