Maria Sharapova, Bryan Brothers To Be Inducted Into Tennis Hall Of Fame
Despite a doping ban, Maria Sharapova will go into the tennis Hall of Fame next summer in Newport, Rhode Island.
The Russian star was a former No. 1, won five Slams including the career Slam and 36 titles during her lengthy career on tour.
Sharapova, though, never recovered from a 2016 doping ban from a failed Australian Open drug test that year. Sharapova served 15 months returning in April 2017. But her tennis career speaks for itself and rises far beyond the level of the Hall.
Sharapova’s entry should keep the door open for other players with doping suspensions like Simona Halep.
With 16 team Grand Slam titles, the Bob and Mike Bryan will go down among the doubles goats. The twins took home a 119 tour-level titles in 178 finals. They spent a total of 438 weeks at No. 1.
Newport no longer has a tour event in the new 2025 calendar so the induction will take place on August 21-23, 2025.
