Hewitt Blisters del Potro; Fish vs. Djokovic Friday at Wimbledon
Former No. 1 Lleyton Hewitt turned back the clock to his grasscourt-winning days, on Thursday blistering No. 5-seeded Juan Martin del Potro 6-3, 7-5, 7-5 to move into the third round at Wimbledon.

“This is a guy who is a future Grand Slam winner so it was a big win,” Hewitt said. “I wanted to beat a Top 5 guy. These are the places you want to do it, too.”
Among other Top 10 seeds in action, No. 3 Andy Murray thrilled British fans by defeating the sporadic Ernests Gulbis 6-2, 7-5, 6-3; No. 6 Andy Roddick survived a mental lapse to defeat Igor Kunitsyn 6-4, 6-2, 3-6, 6-2; No. 8 Gilles Simon recovered from a slow start to top Thiago Alves 5-7, 6-3, 6-4, 6-4; and No. 10 Fernando “Gonzo” Gonzalez did likewise against Leonardo Mayer 6-7(4), 6-4, 6-4, 6-4.
“I didn’t make many mistakes from the ground,” Murray said. “I made him work very hard for the points.”
Roddick will next face Austrian Jurgen Melzer, with Murray against Viktor Troicki.
Former No. 1 Juan Carlos Ferrero knocked Fabrice “The Magician” Santoro out of his last Wimbledon 6-7(1), 6-3, 6-4, 6-3, and unseeded American Jesse Levine recovered from blowing a 2-0 set lead to defeat Pablo Cuevas 6-3 in the fifth. Levine will next face No. 19 seed Stan Wawrinka who advanced Thursday, with Ferrero against Gonzalez.
