Man Wakes Up From 11 Year Coma, Can’t Believe Roger Federer Is Still Competing For Grand Slams!
A Roger Federer fan in Spain has quite the story to tell. According to reports, Jesus Aparicio (a fictional name to protect his true identity) of Seville woke up last month from an 11-year coma.
Aparicio was hit by a car on December 12, 2004 on his 19th birthday, leaving him critically injured.
After much hope and treatment, Aparicio regained consciousness just last month, and soon was able to become familiar with his surroundings, turning his attention back to tennis and his favorite Federer, who he was stunned to see was still competing at the highest level at age 34.
“I came the flash to mind and asked what had happened to him. I thought he’d be retired,” he said via Google Translation. “When they told me that at age 34 he was still playing, the number 2 world and reached Grand Slam finals I thought I was playing a joke. I could not believe.
“I knew Federer was very good but I never thought he could win all he has won.”
Aparicio suffered the accident when Federer was just 23 and with just two Grand Slam titles. Now he has 17.
“I was astonished to see him play well. It’s really amazing.”
Incredibly, Aparicio had never heard of Novak Djokovic or even Rafael Nadal! Imagine.
The Spaniard says he now hopes to go to Wimbledon.
