Djokovic Ties Federer For All-Time Weeks Ranked No. 1

It just seems that something impossible has happened. Roger got to 310 and though he had 237 straight weeks of that in a weaker competitive era, it is absolutely remarkable and testament to Feds talent and consistency year in and year out. Appreciation to Federer for being the 1st to go over 300 weeks at the Top.
8 years back, 2012. Fed was at 302 weeks, Rafa was at 102 weeks as #1, and Djokovic was only at 34 weeks. Feds accomplishment appeared to be insurmountable! The game was far more competitive, Andy Murray was also coming on.
Now it’s 2021 and but for Covid, Feds record would have been gone in 2020 – taken by Djokovic in one of the most competitive times in the Open Era.
It is something his fans everywhere are deeply proud of – the skill, dedication, desire to win and make money as a Champion. Year in and year out. Add over 4 years as #3 (243 weeks) and over 2 1/2 years as #2 (144 weeks).
With hopefully 2-3 more years to go. Perhaps not as #1 more often than not as his career wanes down, but as a dangerous champion to play!

I don’t know how much we’ll see of Nole as number 1 from now on, because it’s no longer a priority for him, according to his own words. I think he’ll probably remain there this year due to inertia and the unusual conditions due to the pandemic, but who knows for how long.

Well, while the stock pictures of Rafa and Fed are nobly heroic ones. at least Novak Djokovic did not share Andy’s stock picture fate.
The 1st Andy pic shows him sitting in a bathtub, looking miserable and forlorn. His 2nd stock pic on TX was him looking depressed and glum with a Yule Log Christmas sweater on.
For Djokovic, I suggest a classic one – after one of his Wimbledon victories, he is celebrating, with the one tennis ball in his pocket sliding to the middle, his full body shot roaring against the crowd as he celebrated – given an unusual “prominence” down below.

Agree in the sense that like the slide, the “boob toss” is Uniquely Djokovian.
Cringeworthy. The brainchild of his touchy-feely and thankfully in the past Guru “Pepe LePeuw” and the product of a very bright but eccentric champion always looking for positive ways of improvement in striving for tennis perfection.
Sorry, the tennis world told him, the “boob toss” was not an improvement.
But you would agree that most of the stuff he tries and accepts has improved the guy, even to the point of becoming scary for several players and their fans.
Tomorrow, he breaks Fed’s record and still could have a long run as #1 even as he says he is prioritizing peaking for SLams and perhaps the Olympics. It’s all in one short bloc French-Olympics-Wimbledon. A breather, then Cincy and the USO by his schedule. But if he makes it through that and is still #1 or close to it, then he would likely want to go for beating Pete in year end #1s and tying Fed in ATP Championships.
And Skeezer, Monday is of course a special Day for Novak. It will be a happy occasion for many, a sad day for some….
Still think Andy Murray had the worst stock pictures. I even have had moments when a statue is put up to Andy at Wimbledon for his Slam and Olympics wins there – where I thought – it would be Andy gazing bleakly at the world sitting in a bronze bathtub.

It’s funny how drastically some people change their opinions to suit the circumstances. It wasn’t long ago that one particular joker fan was slagging him off together with his wife who was branded a Prostitute. This fan said he was finished with joker and would never support him again! His wife in the meantime was torn to shreds and blamed for his inadequacies!

Congratulations Nole for breaking yet another record, keep up the good work.

Today is the first day since 2005 that player not named Djokovic, Nadal, Federer or Murray is top 2 player.
Congratulations Medvedev for climbing yet another step, #2 player in the world.

Regardless of timing, WB, you are right to celebrate Medvedev’s wonderful feat.
And maybe also time to celebrate the enormity of Andy Murray’s achievement in for his great shining time in tennis, to get #1 while playing against his 3 biggest and (over the long run) even better foes. To get there, Andy had times as #3, even #2. Like you had to get to that place before you could vie for the Top. Daniil’s day as #1 will come, I think.
Daniil is just a great player to watch.
I celebrated Djokovic’s tying Fed for weeks as #1 because I didn’t want to wait another week. Now it is here, he gets an Idemooo! And 2 weeks after, becomes the 1st man in the Open Era to be #1 for over 6 years!
And last but not least, welcome back to Roger Federer in Doha.
